the last thing my mother told me before i left for school today was "always do the right thing, [*insert name you call me*]."
it's something she and my father tell me a lot. it's what the teachers in school tell you. it's something you're taught at an early age.
but my morals and society's morals... they're most definetely not the same.
before i continue this, i'd like to make sure you know what i mean by morals and ethics.
a moral is one's sense of right or wrong.
an ethic is how one represents those morals.so let's say one of your morals is that lying is wrong. and then you lie. in doing that, you just compromised your morals and are being unethical.
back to what i was saying earlier.
everybody has their own morals and ideals; some people's are just more different than those of others.
my morals aren't the same as society's morals. and my morals aren't the same as my family's.
to be completely honest, i don't agree with most of my parent's morals.
morals are affected by many factors: the way you were brought up, the people you grew up with, society, religion, etc.
so one of the many morals of this is that no matter how wrong something may seem to you, maybe it feels right to them. we all have different moralities. so remember that, and try not to judge people as much, and never tell someone to do the right thing. also, chances are, they'll do the exact opposite of what you wanted them to do, which kinda backfires on you.
oh and, i just remembered this too. don't tell someone to do what they think is right. if they're asking you a question, it means they're indecisive and want your opinion, and an answer. not a "do what you think is right."
