Chapter 38: Trying

I sigh into the mirror fixing the black choker on my neck. I wore a white low cut dress and at the moment my feet were bare but soon enough they would have heels on them. It's been almost an hour and I can tell Jackson is waiting because I can hear him pacing outside the bathroom door. "Jackie please just have a seat I will be done in a second." He stops stepping over to the door. "Baby you really are beautiful and you don't have to do this okay." I open the door and he looks me over. He reaches out for me and I take his hands. "Woah Jackie. What are you doing?" He raises his eyebrows at me. "I want to touch my fiancé." I huff.

"Fine but don't try anything okay?" He hums leaning into me. "Are you sure you don't want me to?" I bite back my breath. He smiles. "I'm only joking kitten." I swallow nodding. "Where are we going?" He pulls me close. "I thought we could just have a romantic dinner here. I've set it up. I didn't think there was a reason to go out. Someone always ruins it anyways." I hum kissing him. "Baby you're rambling." He kisses me again holding my face in his hands. "I love you. I love you so much." I smile simply. "I love you too." I step past him. "It's gonna be a long night." I hear him sigh before following behind him.

We sat in silence in the back yard picking at our food. It's been like this for a little bit. I drop my fork looking up at him. "Are you only doing this so you can get into my pants?" He looks up at me. "No no...." I fold my arms. "Really?! You've been staring at my chest all night." He huffs. "Teagan listen you are so beautiful and I would love to be intimate with you but that's not why I went through putting this together. I did it because I know you hate going out and I'm trying to get back to what I was before this job."

He sighs. "I'm trying to get back to the guy you fell in love with." I stand up stepping around the table sitting in his lap. "You will always be the man I fell in love with. Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on you. I know you're love has never wavered and I know that you love us. I guess sometimes I just worry that even though you always have doesn't mean you always will." He cups my face.

"Oh baby girl I will always love you. I will always love my girls. Nothing's gonna change that. Not this job. Nothing. Okay?" I smile and he leans in kissing me. I bite my lip softly. "Listen I know you worked hard on this but I was really hoping we'd get to..." He kisses me. "Did you now?" He has a smirk on his face and I roll my eyes. "Keep smirking like that and we won't." He quickly wipes it away. "Yeah that's what I thought." He tickles me some. "Hey stop!" He smiles widely at me. "She just like you and she's gonna make someone very happy one day." I hum. "She's six don't think about giving her away just yet. That's my baby." He hums. "Hey that's my baby too. I'm just saying when the time comes she will." I kiss him. "I'm sure she will Jackie." He taps my thigh. "Why don't you finish eating love?" I roll my eyes. "If I have too." He hums as I get up swaying my hips some. "Oh I'm gonna sink my teeth into you." I wink. "Promise?" He rolls his eyes and we share a laugh. I wouldn't trade this for the world.

My phone rings in the middle of the night and I groan. Jackson's tangled tightly around me and I reach over holding the sheet to my chest answering it. "Hello?" I say my eyes are still shut. "Teagan it's Emma she's crying real bad. And she keeps yelling for you and Jackson. Nothing I've done can calm her." I sigh. "I'm on my way." He hangs up and Jackson smiles against my skin. "Yeah and where do you think you're off to?" I huff. "Emma's really upset and won't stop yelling and crying for us. So we have to go to Zane's." He huffs.

"Of course I have to get up when you look this beautiful." I hum. "Our kids come first Jackie. Come on." I say throwing his shirt over my head before pulling on a pair of sweat pants. He wraps me in his arms swaying us. "When we come back..." I smile. "What exactly are you asking for?" He presses his nose to my neck. "Maybe we should discuss this once we take care of Emma." I turn pressing my lips to his. "Fine but we will be bringing this back up." He hums. "Fine by me. Let's go love."

"Mommy! Daddy!" I scoop Emma up. "Hey sweetheart what's wrong?" She rubs her eyes. "I wanna go home!" Jackson sighs tapping her nose. "Is there a reason bug?" She frowns. "I had a bad dream daddy...wanna go home." He takes Emma from me. "Oh princess of course you can come home. Would you like to talk about the dream?" She shakes her head rubbing her eyes.

"Okay you don't have to. Mommy is gonna get Sadie and we can go yeah?" She nods sleepily. I head up the stairs to find Zane. I explain that we were taking the kids home and thank him before getting Sadie and leaving. Sadie is sleeping in the back seat while Emma sits quietly looking out the window. It's not long until she falls asleep close to Sadie. When we get home I take them inside laying them both done in Sadie's bed before heading upstairs to my own.

Jackson smiles softly at me. "Kids have bad dreams love. She'll be fine." I nod. "I know." He steps over to me. "So now that we are back..." I look up at him and he presses a gentle kiss to my lips. "Baby girl..." He says softly inching my shirt up. "Again...." I whisper. "Like you're complaining." I roll my eyes. "It's hard work to pretend to like it Jackie." He scuffs. "Pretend?!" I see his jaw clench in that familiar way. "Oh baby don't bark up this tree." I smile playing with the hem of his shirt. "Maybe I want too." He smirks pressing me to the wall leaving kisses doesn't down my neck. "You're a flirt baby." I hum. "But you love me Jackie. And you always give me exactly what I want." He places his hands on the wall on both sides of me.

"I'm wrapped around those pretty little fingers. What can I say? Now I do believe I was proving a point." He says kissing me before lifting me up. I laugh clinging to him. "I love you Jackie." He smiles setting me down onto the bed. "I love you too baby."
