Chapter 5: THE MCLEAN SUMMER BALL

---A FEW DAYS LATER---

It's Saturday, Piper invited me to come to her party and I said "Yeah, man." The party is tonight. He said it was a Summer Party, a 'Formal' Summer Party. And that I was supposed to wear something 'formal'. You know like a Tuxedo, a Bow Tie, shiny shoes. I don't even know why I agreed with him. Anyways going back, my mom told me to do the chores and when I'm done I can get ready. First I need to buy groceries. So I went to the Supermarket. But while I'm buying the groceries, I bumped into Grover.

"Hey dude what are you doing here? " I asked.

"I buying some things for the party. What about you? What are you doing here?" Grover answered.

"I'm here, because I'm doing chores for my mom. She'll be gone for the whole summer. So I'm all alone for the whole summer. " I said as we continued to walk.

"Oh, can I help you with your chores?"

"Sure, man if you want. And if you don't have anything to do. Then you can help."

"Then I guess I'm helping."

"So. Are you coming to the McLean Masquerade Ball?"

"Yeah. You?"

"Yeah, will you help me get ready for the ball?"

"Sure, dude. I'll call the others so we can all get ready together."

"Where are we meeting? "

"At my place. At 6:00 pm."

"Okay, then. That's settled."

Then we chatted while I'm doing my chores. Then it was 5:30 when we finished. So we called our other friends, to come to Grover's House. And waited for them.

When they came we began to get ready.

Then we went to the ball.

When we got there, there were so many people. That I just went to the balcony and thought about the secret quest. Then someone went beside me. I looked, then I saw it was a girl. It was Annabeth.

She said "I hate Balls, but Piper told me to come she insisted. I hate charm speak."

"I hate Balls too. But I came to encourage my friend to finally ask her out."

Then she smiled at me. And I smiled back. Then I remembered what I was doing. And who I was talking to. And it seems that she realized it, too. Then there was awkward silence, again. I couldn't take it anymore so I asked her "Annabeth, are you going to do the secret quest?"

"I'm still thinking about it. You."

"Well maybe."

Then host said "Okay. People settle down. Everyone go inside."

Then we all came to the Ball room.

And he continued "Now gentlemen please go to the stage. So you can get one lady to dance with you."
