Chapter 5 - 1234
Katherine’s POV
I woke up to Feist playing in the background. It’s Thursday today and I haven’t seen Abaddon since that little scene David created back on Monday. She hasn’t come to school and I haven’t seen her around town at all. I feel bad, I knew she saw me looking at David and his group go up to them but I couldn’t do anything this time, not with everyone looking, even though I really wanted to. Sighing I got up from bed to get ready for today. I did my usual, shower, change, make-up and all that. I decided on just the shirt Abaddon lent me on Sunday and navy skinny jean with it. I’ve been secretly wearing it to sleep and I don’t know, it felt like my own security blanket. Not in a creepy way! Just made me feel relaxed in some weird way; besides, if she shows up to school today I could give it to her…right? I had every intention of returning it but I couldn’t seeing how she hasn’t been around. I had a loose stripped short sleeve in my locker to change into anyways. I finished getting ready and went downstairs to give Jake his breakfast. Mom had woke me up earlier to tell me to drop off Jake again, I had a feeling this would be a normal routine, not that I really mind, I love spending time with him. I made my way into the kitchen to see Jake already sitting at the table quietly looking out the window.
“You could have called for me to hurry up buds.” I tell him while pulling out a muffin and a glass for milk.
“It’s ok.” Is all he says before looking back out the window and I went back to pulling out the stuff.
“I’ll be taking you to school again k? Mom had to work again.” I tell him while setting down his muffin and milk in front of him. He just nods his head slightly and starts eating while stealing glances towards the window. I grab my muffin and start eating when he spoke up.
“Sis, are there wolfs in the trees?” he asks? I raise my eyebrow at this.
“Um, no there shouldn’t be, if there were we’d know about it.” I tell him, but to be honest I had no clue. I’m almost certain there wasn’t. He just nods his head and continues to eat his breakfast. I’ll have to check up on that.
I sat in art class listening to the teacher talk about different colors and how it is important to know how to mix properly. To be quite honest, I was a waste of time. We aren’t in first grade anymore; we know what mixing is…well at least I hope we all do. As I was listening to the teacher ramble on about colors and such, the door flies open and in walks in none other than Abaddon. She walks up to the teacher and hands her a note and goes to her seat, which happens to be next to mine. I didn’t know what to do. Should I say hi? Or is she mad at me for Monday? What if she goes off on me for it? As my internal battle rages on I feel a tap on my shoulder.
I turn around and face Abaddon, whose desk has moved right next to mine, “So I guess that makes us partners eh.”
“I’m sorry what?” I ask voicing my confusion, staring timidly waiting for her to answer.
She chuckles slightly, making me release a breath I didn’t know I was holding, “Miss Straight-A student not paying attention? Oh my.” She says with a smirk playing at her lips, “We’ve been partnered up for a project due next week.” She tells me while resting her head on her hand. All I could manage to do was nod as I took her in; she was wearing a buttoned up white top that had the top button undone with a checkered tie pulled up as she sported her messy hair again. All in all, she looked great I thought as she spoke again, “So we have to come up with a topic for it. I’m thinking we do some photography seeing how she said we can do it however we wanted and I’m not much of a drawer.”
“Um…yeah, sure, we can do it like that.” I say still confused on what we were doing.
“Sweet, so photo it is. How about you pick out the topic and we can role from there?” she asks.
