Chapter 10 - Atlas Hands
Katherine’s POV
I feel a tap on my shoulder making me turn in my seat to look at the guy who tapped me. I think his name was Brad…Chad or something like that, “Yes?” I ask politely.
“Here.” He said as he handed me a note. I sighed inwardly as I gave him a small smile and turned back around with the note. I was currently in second class, Literature which I happen to have with Abaddon as well. Secretly hoping it was from them, I opened the letter.
Hey, we’re all thinking of going to the mall today, you in?
~Sam
Disappointed with the sender of the letter I crumbled it up and left it on the desk as I stared at the teacher give the lesson. It’s been a while since the thing at Abaddon’s place and even now it’s still running through my head. I don’t know what happened that day. When I realized what I was doing I freaked out and left. I know that was childish but that was totally unexpected and I needed time to sort out these feelings before anything although now I regret it. I jumped slightly as the bell rang, scaring me. Taking a deep breath I collected my bag and book slowly, taking my time so I don’t run into Abaddon in the hall though I doubt she’d wait. At first she would wait and try to talk to me, put notes in my locker saying anything to try and get me to hear her out but I refused. It scared me, these feelings, so I ran like a coward and now she won’t even look in my direction. She would go out of her way to avoid me just like how I did to her. If it hurt her as much as it’s hurting me then I know how much of an ass I was being. I want to talk to her, but you know me, I’m chicken. As I was having my inner dilemma I didn’t notice a door open, smashing into my face.
“Augh! What the-“ I say as my bottom hits the floor along with the rest of my stuff.
“Oh shit! I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean for that, are you okay?” I looked up to see the culprit, ready to yell at them but didn’t get a chance to as they pulled me back up, “Come on say something before I think I broke you, or at least your nose.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at that which made her release a sigh of relief, “No I’m okay.” I tell her. I take a good look at her and notice that it’s the new girl that arrived a few weeks ago, the same one from homeroom.
“Well that’s good, although I’m pretty sure we’re late already for class.” She says while looking around the halls. I took a good look at her as she inspected the halls. She had jet black hair, light blue eyes, and the body of a model but that’s not what stood out. What did was how she carried herself, like she knew how she affects a room and she took full advantage of it in a non self-absorbed kind of way. She could easily be part of the popular crowd if she wanted too. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard her chuckle lightly, “I know I’m good looking but stop you’re making me blush.” She said, smiling at me.
I gave a nervous laugh while grabbing my stuff from the floor, “Um…you’re the new girl right? We have homeroom together.”
“Oh yeah! I remember you were the one that took that girl to the nurse that day right?” she says as if figuring something great out, “You were shouting bloody murder. It scared the crap out of me; you guys must be close.”
“I guess we were.” I say softly as we continue walking. I looked up and noticed we were outside at the football stadium.
When did we get here?
“Were? What happened?” she asks as she sits at the bleachers.
I follower her lead and sit next to her. I mean I’m late to class already and it does give me a break from you-know-who, “It’s…complicated.”
