chapter 4

vic pov

I went to the school today to see if they actually knew what happened to iris. of course, they didn't. they looked at the security cameras and found out who did it. it was a lot of people. from what I saw it looked like a lot of the popular or preppy kids. I saw them all get busted and they all apologized. but I knew they didn't mean it. all they got was a week suspension.

"don't you think that they should have a more sever punishment? this has been going on forever an-"

"Mr Fuentes, I'm sorry but this is all that we can do-"

"all you can do? all you can fucking do? have you seen iris'  and how bad her face is? it's all because of them! what about your kids wouldn't you do everything to protect them!"

"Mr Fuentes that kind of language will not be allowed here. and please don't raise your voice. this is all we can do at the moment and if you think otherwise you can leave." I just stared at her, then got up and left. all she could do? I don't think so.

I got in my car and just thought. thought about how much pain those people caused iris. it killed me and they weren't doing anything about it.

*insert annoying cell phone ringtone here*

I was interrupted by my phone ringing.

I swear if he's calling me because he didn't get his breakfast burrito, I will break his arm.

"yea what do you want?"

"vic I think you should come home"

"why?  it better not involve your stupid breakfast burrito"

"it doesn't I promise. its iris. she got hurt."

"I'm on my way" I hung up the phone and sped away. before I knew it I was home. I ran upstairs to iris' room to find her in mikes lap crying, with blood on her wrist.

I just froze for a second. no. not my baby girl, this can't be happening

iris pov

a couple of minutes later I woke up in mikes lap. I just started to cry again. he obviously heard me because he said that vic was on his way home.

"no no no I'm fine I promise can't wrong just keep this a secret."

"we can't keep this from vic iris. your not fine look at you."

"I'm fine I promise" then I fake smiled. the one he bought so many times, he just looked right through it this time.

then dad appeared in the doorway. he just looked at me and froze.

"I-I-iris please tell me you didn't do this" I got away from mike and just huddled up in the corner and put my head in my knees while mike explained what happened. I put my hands over my ears. I didn't want to hear it.

"oh my god iris I'm so sorry. I'm sorry about everything. I'm sorry for not being there for you" he said while pulling me into a hug.

"come on let's clean you up" I sat on the toilet seat while dad cleaned my cuts

'look what you've done. making your own father cry like that'

"I-I'm s-sorry" I choked out when he was done. he just looked up at me with wide and teary eyes

"iris you shouldn't be sorry for anything. you didn't do anything wrong. thou just hit a bump in the road but it's gong to be ok. I promise you that. we are all here for you when you need to talk about anything. iris I love you so much. more than you would ever know." I was speechless. I pulled time into a hug and broke down crying again.

"I love you too" I said between sobs.

"why did you do it iris" now or never I thought

"I was so alone and I felt so broken like no one cared. they never noticed or cared about how I was feeling. I can remember walking in in you cutting after mom died and you said it made you feel better when you were sad. so when I got sad, that's what I did. and today I got so much hate from people at school and one person said that I should rot in Hell with mom. and I just couldn't take it anymore."

"shhh it'll be alright darling I promise. we can get through this together we just have to be strong."

Maybe I will get better. maybe I can do it.
