Chapter 12

~Chapter 12~

~Katniss POV~

When I wake up I realize that Peeta is not there. I don't see him in the room or bathroom so I assume that he just went to breakfast already. I get up and lazily walk down the hall to the dinning room and join them.

After a boring breakfast Effie tells me to go straight to my room because my prep team is waiting for me. I get up from my seat and quickly walk to my room. As I open it someone screams and I'm immediately pulled into many hugs and kisses.

"Katniss! It has been forever!" Exclaims Ocatavia. I just nod in agreement and let everyone greet me. After catching them up on my life lately, the hurry me into the bathroom so they can start their magic.

They say that they are taking me back to beauty base zero. The team starts by putting me in the shower. After I've been scrubbed and my hair is wet and shiny, they start to wax any body hair off of me. This is my least favorite part of their makeovers because it hurts so bad.

Once they finish waxing my hair, they start working in my nails. They trim my nails and toenails and paint them with a clear coat. After that, they blowdry and curl my hair. They put on light makeup on me since I'm going to be shopping in the Capitol, and show me the outfit that they want me to wear today. I look at the outfit and see that it looks very pretty. A simple dress that is a sky blue color. It is fitted and tight at the top and flares a bit from the waist down. It's a little above knee length. They give me some dark blue flats to wear and put on a silver necklace and earrings to finish off my look.

Once they are done and are admiring their job that they did on me, I thank them and dismiss them. I decide to lay on my bed and watch television for awhile. After about five minutes I hear a knock on the door and then I hear the knob opening.

In walks Effie dressed in a hot pink skirt and light pink top. She's wearing her famous gold wig and has on heavy makeup.

"C'mon Katniss! It's time to go shopping now!" She announces. Then she turns on her heel and prounces out of the room.

~Peeta POV~

After breakfast, Katniss gets wisked away from me so quickly that I can't even tell her how happy I was that she snuck into my bedroom last night. I guess it will have to wait.

Katniss isn't the only one going shopping today. Haymitch and I are going to go to some stores today too. I know exactly what I need. One thing and one thing only.

After getting ready, Haymitch and I climb into a car and he starts to drive through the Capitol.

"So Peeta what is it you so desperately need to get?" Haymitch asks.

"Umm well actually I was thinking about...um...going to get an engagement ring. I plan on proposing to Katniss tomorrow night. I'm planning a rooftop dinner and I thought it would be a great way to make the whole trip memorable and worth it for Katniss and I. What do you think?" I ask really quickly.

"Well, I think you need to seriously think about this. I mean marriage is a big commitment.. are you sure you are ready for this Peeta? Is Katniss ready?" He asks with a twinge of sadness in his voice.

"I hope she's ready. I mean, I think I'm ready. I don't know, we love each other and are going to get married eventually. Why not now?" I reply.

"It's your life and relationship Peeta. If you want to do this then it's your choice and I will support you." Haymitch says with a smile.

"Okay that settles it then. Let's find us a jewelry store!" I exclaim.
