2 • meeting the leblancs

today i woke up, the same as always. i don't want to be here. i want to live with my mother. whatever. i wake up and take a shower. i toss on the clothes that everyone wears here. a plain white shirt with jeans. i tie up my shirt in the front and brush my teeth. i leave my hair down and put on my white converse. i walk down to the front office before breakfast.

i head on down to see christine on the computer. "morning christine!" i said resting my arms on the table. "morning julianna. excited?" she said flashing me a smile. "why would i be excited?" i ask confused. "didn't you hear? there's a family coming to adopt you later in the evening!" she said happily. i rolled my eyes. "christine, you know every time a family comes, i'm just going to run back here." i said sighing. "come on annie, the family seemed nice." she said trying to cheer me up. oh, and if you're confused, annie or anns is my nickname. i prefer it over julianna. "i don't know christine." i said looking away. we stay in an awkward silence for like 30 seconds. "who's in the family?" i ask out of the blue

she gave me a smile. "they are the LeBlancs. there's a dad and a mom. they have an older son and a younger daughter. the moms name is katie, the dads name billy, the sons name is caleb, and the daughters name is hayley." christine finished saying. i purse my lips nod.

" you better be getting to the main hall for breakfast." christine said looking a the clock on the wall. i nod and thank her for the information. i walk to the hall and wait in line for breakfast. i get oatmeal and fruit. i walk to the table near a window and sit by myself. I think about the new family. maybe they'll be different? not.
-time skip to 3:00 pm-
it's time for the family to pick me up. i packed all my 'things' and walked down to the front office. it didn't take me long to pack since i really didn't have anything. i sit down in the chair and fiddle my fingers. i'm not usually nervous, but this time i was.

two adults arrived. "hello mr and mrs.leblanc. my name is christine." christine said standing up from her chair to shakes their hands. "this is julianna," christine said pointing to me. i bit my lip. "well, hello julianna!i'm katie and this is billy." katie said smiling. i smiled back, but didn't say a single word.

"well, you ought to be off!" christine said. i smiled and hugged her goodbye. i walked with katie and billy to their car. "so julianna, if you didn't already know, we have two other kids. their names are hayley and caleb. hayley's younger then you and caleb's older. they are really excited to meet you!" katie said smiling. "oh and you can call me annie." i said shyly. she smiled.

we arrived at the leblanc household. they have a HUGE house! it looked very nice. "welcome to your new home annie leblanc!" billy said. i gave a small smile. we all got out of the car and billy opened the door to the house. we walked inside and i saw a girl younger then me and a boy a little older then me.

"kids, meet annie. your new sister!" katie said. they walked up to me to greet me. "i thought your name was julianna?" the little girl asked. "it is, annie is just a nickname." i said smiling. she smiled back. "my names hayley! i love your hair!" ahe said. i laughed and thanked her. "my names caleb." the older boy said. i greeted him too.

"okay kids, go show annie her room." katie said. hayley and caleb nodded. hayley took my hand and we walked upstairs. we walked down a hallway to a huge room. hayley opened the room to reveal a beautiful room. i had my mouth open. "do you like it? mommy and i decorated it for you." hayley said. i smiled. "i love it so much! it's amazing. thank you!" i said. she hugged me. i was in shock, but i hugged back. "oh and, your starting school tomorrow at the school that i go to. So i'll drive you there and back." caleb said leaning on the door frame. "school? like actual high school?" i asked with a nerve in my voice. "yeah. but don't worry, you'll be fine. i'm kinda popular at school." i laughed. he smiled and left.

hayley and i walked back downstairs. hayley gave me house tour. it was a beautiful house! hayley and i walked to the kitchen where katie was. "oh hello kiddos! annie, i bought you some outfits. we can go some more shopping tomorrow." katie said smiling. "thank you." i simply said. "also, in your bathroom i put a blow dryer, a flat iron and a curling iron with makeup and toiletries." katie said. "thank you so much katie!" I said with my smile widening. "i have something too!" billy said walking in. je pulled out a macbook and an iPhone 7+. "oh, you didn't have to, this is to much." i said shyly. "it's fine sweetheart, you're family now; and you're a teen." billy said handing me the items. i thanked them and walked up to my bedroom.

i set up the stuff and walked back down. i had dinner and walked back up to my room. i think i'm going to like this family.
