Chase's POV-
I heard a scream. A young girl. I listened more carefully. It was coming from Mission Creek High. I turned to my friends. They were staring at me, fear and anxiety filled their eyes.
"A girl needs our help" I told them, starting to make my way towards the screams. Adam grabbed me and pulled me back quickly, which made me stumble.
"Chase, we can't go in there!" Bree screamed.
"Why not?" I asked, just wanting to run into the building.
"There's too many people in there. You can't risk using your bionics in front of them" Leo said, grabbing onto my shoulders. I shrugged them off.
"We have to!" I cried. Bree shook her head. "We used them in front of Perry and she's keeping our secret!"
"But Davenport's paying her. He can't afford to pay the whole school a million bucks just to keep our secret. Logic Chase!" Adam said, rolling his eyes.
"But we have to save her! It's what we do. I thought that you of all people would understand, Bree" I pleaded, tears running down the side of my face. She looked down at her feet, shaking her head. I stared at them in disbelief. "Fine" I said to them sternly.
I ran towards the school, Bree and Leo yelling behind me. I burst through the doors, anger boiling up inside me. I spotted a young girl standing underneath a broken air vent, kids crowded around her trying to help but forced back as electrical sparks flew around. The vent was hanging by one cable, which was going to snap soon. I took a deep breath and ran towards her, people yelling at me to stay back. I activated my force field and slid under the broken wires. The sparks rebounded off my force field. I jumped to my feet as soon as I was next to the girl and turned my force field off. There was a sudden creaking noise as the last cable snapped and the vent came tumbling to the ground. I centred myself, took a deep breath, and activated my Molecula Kinesis. The air vent stopped falling and started floated mid-air. I grunted as I moved the air vent away from the crowd, beads of sweat trickled down my forehead. I placed it down on the ground with a small thud. Next, I moved onto the wires. I ripped them off the ceiling and threw them down next to the vent. I wiped my sweaty hands on the sides of my jeans and looked around, panting. Everyone was staring at me, lots were screaming. I noticed Bree in the crowd. She smiled before frowning and shaking her head. I could hear sirens in the distance. I pushed through the crowd, fear was welling up inside me. I never thought it'd be me that exposed our bionics, and now the FBI were on my tail. Someone must've called them while I was focused on the vent. I wish I had Bree's super speed. I ran up towards the road we lived on and sprinted up the hill. I took a glimpse behind me. I could see the police cars turning down the road I was just on. I gulped and sped up the hill. I started crying.
'Idiot, Chase. You're such a damn idiot!' I thought to myself. No argument there. My vision was starting to go blurry from the tears. I sniffed and wiped them away. Suddenly, I felt someone grab me. I closed my eyes and let the tears pour out.
'This is it. They've got you. Your life is over. And now your family will pay for your idiocy'. There was something strange about the way we were moving. It seemed faster than a regularly car, lightning quick. And I wasn't even in a car. There was no leather seat underneath me, no hard metal walls, no cold handcuffs chaining me together. I opened my eyes slightly and let out a huge sigh of relief. Bree smiled at me and threw me on her back. I held on for dear life. She zipped straight into our house and chucked me onto the couch viciously.
"Chase you idiot!" She screamed. I burst into tears again, burying my head in my hands.
"What's going on?" Mr Davenport asked, running over to me and putting his hand on my shoulder for comfort. That made me cry even harder.
"Chase used his bionics in front of the whole School and now the FBI's on his trail" she said, glaring at me.
"What!" Mr Davenport screamed, standing up and locking the door. He shook his head. "Chase, how could you?"
"I was trying to save someone" I managed to say in between heaving sobs. He sighed.
"It was only him, right?" He asked Bree.
She nodded.
Mr Davenport bit his lip. "At least it's not all of you guys going" he muttered.
Bree glared at him.
"Well what else do you want me to say?! That he's doomed? I mean, obviously, they're gonna conduct experiments on you with probes and--"
"We get it!" Bree screamed.
I sniffed and wiped my nose on my sleeve. "I'm so sorry" I whispered. Mr Davenport sat back down next to me and pulled me into a hug.
"It's OK" he whispered back.
I could tell that he was lying. He was disappointed in me. A loud knock on the door pulled me out of my thoughts. My heart stopped, the colour drained from my face. Bree ran over to the door and looked through the peep hole.
"It's them" she whispered.
"FBI!: A man from outside called. "Open the door and bring us the bionic suspect!"
Bree hesitated and quickly opened the door. Men with guns plunged inside. One came up to Mr Davenport and pulled out an I.D card.
"Craig McGregor. FBI" he introduced himself. He nodded at me. "We believe this boy is an illegal bionic human, are we correct?"
Mr Davenport shook his head.
Craig nodded, his brow furrowing, and snapped his fingers. Three men grabbed Bree and aimed their guns at her, their fingers on the trigger.
"Get off of me!" Bree screamed. Mr Davenport gulped.
"Let me ask you again. Is this boy bionic, or not?" Craig asked, his eyebrow raised.
Mr Davenport looked at me guiltily and looked at his feet, mumbling something.
Craig nodded and grinned.
"Thank you".
The agents let go of Bree and she ran over to Mr Davenport, scared. Craig turned to me. I have to admit, I was scared. Who wouldn't be? Spike, maybe. But now's not about him, it's me they want. I gulped.
"So you're the bionic teenager, eh?"
I didn't answer.
Craig nodded at an agent behind me, who slapped on cold handcuffs onto my wrists.
"We're not sure what you were thinking, Donald Davenport. Do you know the fine for experimenting on children?" He asked, turning to Mr Davenport.
The same agent screwed some handcuffs onto Mr Davenport's wrists, pushing Bree violently away in the process.
"Obviously you knew the consequences when you decided on this little 'test'" he went on.
Mr Davenport glared at him. "Consequences I was willing to take" he growled.
Craig nodded slowly and motioned for some agents to grab me. They held onto me, their fingernails digging into my arms, and pulled me away from my family. I screamed, kicking and struggling to get out of their strong grasps. They led me outside. I grabbed onto the side of the door, still screaming. They grabbed me around the waist, tugging to make to loose my grip.
"No!" I screamed as they managed to pull me off.
The last thing I saw was Bree's wet face, staring sadly at me, as the agents carried me away and threw me vigorously into their police van.
