Chase's POV-
My eyes snapped awake. I groaned, unaware that I'd fallen asleep. I tried to lift my head a little, pins and needles making my body tingle, but then slammed back down on a cold surface beneath me.
"What the-?"
I frantically began to look around at my surrounds, my vision limited due to only just waking up, noticing that the surface I was lying on was actually the metal medical table. My body rose and fell with heavy breaths, thrashing against the restraints, grimacing as the circulation-cutting straps holding my arms down dug into my skin, slowly drawing blood.
A cool hand suddenly pressed against my bare chest. I rolled my eyes. Of course, once again, they're humiliating me by leaving me shirtless. I tried to look up, but another hand softly pushed my head back down against the table.
"Calm down," the voice of Agent Lahey urged.
I bit my lip, taking a shuddering breath.
"W- what are you doing to me?" I squeaked.
Lahey frowned. He removed his hands from my skin and started pacing around the room.
"You agreed to this, remember Chase? You want us to do this". He stopped pacing, and looked over at me. Even though I had limitations to where I could see at that moment, I could just catch a glimpse of the glint in his eyes. But what was it? Corruption? Sinister? Immoral? I tried not to think about it.
Agent Lahey gave a slight smirk, proceeded to one of the many computers located in the medical room and started tapping away on it.
"Question is, which memories do we tamper with? And what do we do with them?"
"Huh?" I asked suddenly.
The way Lahey talked, it was hard to grasp what he was actually referring to sometimes.
"Well," he started, not looking up from the computer screen. "If we only allow you to have good memories with your family, then you'll be less obedient and willing. So, the question is, do we leave you with a few good memories, or diminish them completely?"
He turned to one of the nurses and muttered a few things to her.
"That's not what you had me agree to earlier" I told him.
Lahey ignored me, but instead continued to give instructions to the busy nurses and doctors. After a long set of orders, Lahey headed towards the door, grinning at me the whole time. He stopped just before the exit, deciding to say one final thing.
"Rule one Chase; The FBI lies to get what they want". And with that, he left.
I looked up at the nurses, emotions of anger, deception, hatred and hesitation swimming around me.
"Sweet dreams, Mr Davenport" a nurse cooed as she place a mask over my nose and mouth. 'They'll be your last'.
I desperately tried to squirm away from them, but the restraints held me back. I could feel the sedative as it started to enter my system, making me feel dizzy and weak as I struggled to gain freedom against the belts. I knew I had no chance of escape, my vision was blurring and I was fighting to stay awake, beginning to feel drowsier by the second. Black dots slowly started to creep into my eyesight, sound steadily becoming muted as a sharp ringing sensation sounded in my ears. I could hear the beeps of the monitors fade out, the casual talk of the doctors drowning out. Even the sound of my own heart thumping was slipping away. It was all faded out by the ringing, and the inky spots that forbid me from seeing.
And then full darkness took over, and unconsciousness forced me to become dead to the world.
