The doors opened.
After what seemed like forever, they finally opened.
The Goddess I saved, supposedly Demeter, walked out first. She looked kind of bristle towards everything. Hades didn't look to happy either so it may be ok.
"Hello dear." Demeter said walking up to me. "My, you look hungry. Cereal?"
Hades coughed behind her. "Get to the point, Demeter."
"Fine." She said harshly. she took a deep breath. "You're life will be returned to you, but not with out a price. Hades requests that you work for me for..."
"Forever." Hades finished. I was shocked. I almost winced in pain.
"Will I ever be able to see my family again?" I could barley speak.
"Well of course! I'm not cruel like some people." Demeter said looking back at Hades, he just shrugged.
Nico put a hand on her shoulder. His long, lean fingers were actually were comforting.
How was she supposed to tell her family. She could see their faces now. How was she supposed to watch her family go on with their lives. Her brother would get married, her parents would pass, her brother would have kids and then he would die. All while she would be working for the person she saved.
But then her promise to her brother popped in her head. If she did this at least she would be alive. She could always visit. Her parents and brother would love her no matter what.
She took a shaky breath. Straightened her shoulders, and nodded. Demeter handed her a vial.
Wait, not just a vial. THE vial. The vial of her mothers immortal blood.
"My mothers blood?"
"Use the gift." Demeter said, smiling. "What your mother didn't tell you is that if you drank all of it, it would burn your soul, but she knew if you got seriously hurt, like die, which you do. It would revive you, but it would also make you immortal. She knew the risks of letting you go and giving you her blood. She also knew you were a special demigod."
"How?"
"In the years when you father was being forced to be schooled, your mother looked to the fates to determine his fate. She got more than she asked for. The fates told her she would have two children and one would have a special life of abnormality, the other would live a normal life. After she found out your brothers condition, she knew you you live the un-normal life. she never told your father because she felt he would do anything to stop that, and he would. He is a good father. He is troubled now, though. You missing for 2 weeks has took a toll on him. Which is way we must hurry."
With a shaky hand, Essie grabbed the vial. She put it up to her lips. It smelled like and ocean breeze.
"Wait." Essie said pulling it away. "What about my powers?"
"They will stay." Hades sighed. "Will you just drink it already?"
She put up to her lips, Demeter held up a hand.
"I crown you the official assistant of Demeter."
Essie tipped the vial.

It didn't taste at all what she expected. She pictured it would taste like, well blood. It actually tasted like her dad's enchiladas. It was kind of like ambrosia or nectar, but it had a kick.
It felt like she was punched in the gut. She was going numb yet she still felt the vial slip from her grasp. All the sounds were muffled but she heard it shatter, and the sounds of her stumbling footsteps.
Just as she fell something caught her. She thought it was Nico but she was floating. She floated in to a standing position. Her toes pointed down and her arms spread out like she was waiting to hug someone.
Then the power flooded in. Like a leak in a dam.
She opened her eyes to see she was glowing. Here camp shirt and ratty jeans were replaced by a perfect white dress that went down to her knees floating around her perfectly like she was in the water. She couldn't see the rest of her but based on their faces she looked really different. The ground above her cracked and she was pushed upward by a giant flower. The petals closed around her closed and they rose.
When they opened her now bare feet touched down on the flowers middle. The brightness surprised her but she didn't flinch away.
The glare from the sun made her couldn't see anything but she heard Demeter say.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Meet the new assistant of Lady Demeter, me. Esperanza Rosa Valdez."
