daeun opened the door to a flustered but handsome looking man with sharp, but nervous eyes.
before she even had time to speak, words began to tumble out of his mouth, her eyes attempting to follow the movements of his lips so as to understand him. he looked exasperated and nervous and truthfully, daeun gave up on reading his lips, finding the way he was rambling adorable and funny.
once he was done, she decided to mess with him a tiny bit and gave him a confused look that she perfected years ago. she rose her hand to her ear and tapped a few times, the man's eyes growing wide. apologies began spilling out of his mouth and he began bowing incessantly.
daeun cracked a smile and held her hand up to stop him.
"so all i got from reading your lips was soonyoung, friend, music, crazy lady, and frying pan. can you tell me your story again, but a little slower?" the man sighed, quickly apologized, and began his story again.
"i'm so sorry! i'll try to speak a bit slower now. hi, i'm soonyoung and i live next door. my friend is making me go around the whole floor apologizing for my loud music, which is obnoxious and disruptive so i am very sorry if i've disturbed you. i'm quite nervous about this cause my other next door neightbor was this crazy lady who pulled out a frying pan and began to scold me and almost hit me." he sighed after he finished, seeming more out of breath than when he was speaking erratically.
"ah you mean ms. choi. she can be a bit much, sorry about that." daeun smirked as she leaned on her doorframe, observing the embarrassed taller man in front of her.
"so you've been the one blasting sail, hmm?" soonyoung's face flushed, a rosy color rushing to his cheeks. he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
"yeah, sorry about that. also i'm so sorry i didn't realize you were—" daeun waved off the apology.
"it's alright. no one ever expects it." after an awkward pause, she breaks the silence once again.
"so i'm guessing you still need to apologize to more people right? can't keep the rest of the floor waiting." she sends him a comical wink before he agrees, their goodbyes and nice-to-meet-you's being exchanged. the door closes, creating a barrier between the two.
daeun rests her weight against the door, letting out a breath she didn't know she had been holding.
he was really handsome.
soonyoung stood outside the door for a moment, contemplating what had just happened. he chastised himself for making a fool out of himself before walking away, determined to go back to his apartment and tell jeonghan about the whole thing.
she was so gorgeous.
