december 30th, 2010.

snow had fallen for the past three days, the entire city coated in a white blanket.

go namkyu was driving his young children, daeun and dabin, home from a dance recital. his wife, soojin, had been paged to the hospital as one of her patients suddenly relapsed.

daeun, a young fourteen year old, had been upset and close to tears since the awards were given out. her biggest competition in her company, kim leeyu, had gotten first place, leaving daeun with second place. dabin, a little seven year old, was just excited to be going home because namkyu promised to play in the snow with her.

the roads were terrible, but with daeun being almost inconsolable, namkyu was juggling consoling his daughter and driving carefully

suddenly a patch of thick black ice appeared on the road.

the silver car began to spin, namkyu doing his best to straighten the vehicle once again. he successfully moved the tires but the car was too out of control.

one minute the family was spinning on the busy road, and the next the car was on its side in a ditch.

the cars behind them swerved, a black car parking on the side of the road behind them. two strangers jumped out of the car, the driver calling the emergency number and the other rushing to the car. she attempted to open the doors, but they were smashed shut. the two were able to break the windows just as the paramedics arrived.

namkyu and dabin were unresponsive, being on the side that that car landed on. daeun was fading in and out of consciousness. the emts were unable to get her name and quickly rushed her into an ambulance. before the doors closed, daeun saw a blurry image of an emt carrying a large black bag.

at the hospital, soojin was unaware of her family's situation due to her not being able to have her phone on her during hours.

as she left a patient's room to head to the receptionist desk for an update on one of her critical condition's, the doors to the emergency room entrance slammed open.

soojin had heard of a terrible car accident, but she had not been called to treat the victims. the second she saw her daughter's face on the battered body laid on the stretcher, her heart dropped. she screamed daeun's name, but the teenager never responded.

soojin would find out hours later that her daughter hadn't heard her calls and never would again.

november 16th, 2017.

soonyoung was nervous. even though daeun and him had been best friends for almost a year, she had yet to see one of his performances.

it was small, just him, minghao, junhui, and chan meeting at a local dance studio to perform and teach for an intermediate class. even though it wasn't a concert, soonyoung couldn't help but feel anxious. daeun would see his dance team actually perform rather than just practice. it had to be absolutely perfect.

he was so focused on his nerves that he barely noticed that he had drifted into the other lane. daeun's scream to move the car brought him out of his mind, successfully swerving into the other lane.

however, the high speed limit left the car moving too quickly, taking the control out of soonyoung's hands.

the car quickly crashed off the side of the road, coming to a stop in a similar fashion to go namkyu's car seven years ago.
