as soon as soonyoung walked through the door of the practice room, he made a beeline for chan.

"lee chan! thanks for taking me home. i had no idea i'd get that wasted."

"hyung i didn't take you home."

"then who did? yoon jeonghan? that hyung's been strangely nice i feel like he's planning something."

"no some girl named daeun, according to jeonghan hyung, took you home. are you neighbors or something?"

soonyoung's cheeks started to redden and he began to trip over his words slightly.

"y-yeah she lives a couple doors down from me."

for the rest of practice, soonyoung could only think of daeun and wishing he had her number to tell her thank you.

-

soonyoung practically raced back to his apartment building after choreographing a few routines for his team.

in a few short minutes, he was face to face with go daeun's door, debating on whether he should actually bother her. he knocked loudly, and after a few seconds of silence, soonyoung almost slapped himself. she's deaf, idiot. he rang the doorbell since she answered to that the last time and soon enough, the lock on the door began to make noise.

his heart began to pound as daeun opened the door, all of his rehearsed lines flying out of his brain.

as soon as daeun registered who her visitor was a wide smile spread across her cheeks.

"h-hey! i just wanted to say thank you for helping me home."

"it was nothing. i couldn't have possibly let you leave alone like that."

soonyoung sheepishly rubbed his hand against the back of his neck, becoming embarrassed at just the thought of what he could have possibly done in that state.

"yeah, sorry about that. i usually never drink that much i just saw someone from my past and—" daeun waved off his apology and explanation.

"don't worry about it. you look exhausted and hungry. i have some ramen cooking right now if you want some?" daeun didn't give soonyoung the chance to say no, especially since she saw his hesitation to decline her offer.

as they sat at her small dining table, soonyoung began to eat and eat. practice that day had worn him out due to the massive hangover he had, hunger taking exhaustion's place for the time being.

"i swear you make better ramen than all of my friends combined."

"and how many would that be? zero, i'm guessing?" soonyoung glared at her.

"twelve actually. maybe five of them can actually cook but you're way better."

a light rosiness tinted daeun's cheeks as she went back to her own bowl. it had only been her second bowl and soonyoung was already on his fifth.

as soon as they were done eating, soonyoung insisted on cleaning up. daeun sat on one of the stools at the counter, relishing in the fact that for once her hands weren't slaving away at the sink. the bakery didn't pay well enough for her to be able to get the dishwasher fixed—it was broken beyond repair due to a mishap with a rubber spatula.

besides, she was saving up for something much more important.

so there daeun sat, smiling as she watched the man she was quickly befriending do the dishes. the second their doors closed and they were in their own private spaces, the pounding of their hearts were extremely apparent.
