the first sensation soonyoung felt was pain. his arms and legs had been cut up from glass shards but he couldn't detect anything major.

he was barely coherent, the crash sending his body into shock. he didn't register what happened until he was out of the car and placed on a stretcher.

he looked around and panic set in as he could not see daeun anywhere.

he looked back at his car and paled. the car was on its side, daeun's being crushed into the ground. metal seemed to be everywhere and while he didn't want to believe it, he saw blood on the grass by daeun's door.

firefighters were scrambling to get her out, working even faster after seeing daeun's state.

soonyoung couldn't look away and kept watching, waiting, for the metal to bend back and for her to be placed on a stretcher alongside him.

the last thing he saw before the ambulance doors closed was the shout for a stretcher and his heart skipped a beat.

-

soonyoung woke up in a hospital room, his friends all piled into the tiny room. how 12 grown men all fit around that bed is a mystery.

he looked to seungcheol first. the eldest had to have answers, right?

"where is she?"

seungcheol sighed, "she was in surgery last i heard."

soonyoung leaned back into the bed, relieved that reality wasn't as bad as he thought. he was ready to ask more questions when who he could only assume was his doctor shooed his friends out.

"hi soonyoung, i'm dr. go soojin. how are you feeling?"

"sore, in pain, and worried." the doctor looked at him in sympathy and understanding.

"you suffered from mainly trauma and abrasions to the majority of your body. my main concern is infection as some rusted metal appeared to cut you. keep an eye on the cuts but otherwise, you got lucky." she got up to leave when soonyoung cried out,

"wait! there was a girl in the car with me, go daeun. how is she?" dr. go nearly collapsed at hearing her daughter's name, the emotions from not just this accident but the one seven years ago weighing down on the woman.

sitting down in the chair next to soonyoung's bed, soojin sighed, placing a hand to her temples.

"normally i would not share a patient's medical status with someone, but she's my daughter and i can tell you care about her." soonyoung immediately became nervous after discovering that his doctor was daeun's mother, but he cared too much about daeun to focus on the new information.

"a piece of metal from her door had pierced her leg. it looked more serious than it was but she will have to keep weight off of it. her ears were the biggest concern due to the amount of blood coming from them. i am about to go receive an update." suddenly, soojin took soonyoung's hand.

"i'll keep you updated soonyoung. thank you for keeping my daughter happy and safe. i hope the next time we meet it is under better circumstances."

once daeun's mother had left, soonyoung nearly burst into tears. he had been so terrified that daeun was critically hurt or even dead.

he was discharged not long after dr. go's visit and joined the rest of his and daeun's friends in the waiting room.

"kwon soonyoung?" he shot up from his chair.

"go daeun wants to see you."
