the next couple of months became a blur for daeun.

every day after practice, soonyoung would stop by her apartment to eat dinner. occasionally he couldn't as he had other business to attend to, but typically he was there, every night at the same time.

cooking the same dish every night became old very quickly and now soonyoung had become daeun's personal taste-tester for all forms of food. currently his favorite was her own version of hotteoks.

soonyoung didn't just become a food critique for daeun, the two becoming quite close in the span of a few weeks.

they would text often, so often that soonyoung began to text during practice. after some gossip from chan and jeonghan, all twelve members of seventeen knew who their choreographer and lead dancer had become so attached with.

it was a healthy friendship, one of the healthiest the world had ever known in such a short amount of time.

occasionally daeun would become frustrated with soonyoung, but mainly because either he talked too rapidly for her to read or he would talk to her with his head turned away from her. not cool to someone who is hard of hearing.

other than that, the two were perfectly happy and on the verge of being best friends.

currently, daeun was sitting on soonyoung's bed while he was at his desk, composing some extremely important song. he was always ambiguous about it for some reason.

she could feel the deep reverberations course through her body, a clear indication soonyoung's music was way too damn loud. to clarify, not the song he is working on, but another one playing due to his love of noise.

"soonyoung."

no answer.

"soonyoung!" daeun raised her voice a little louder, trying to match the intensity of the bass of the song.

again, nothing.

"hoshi!" daeun yelled, speaking louder than she had in years. soonyoung whipped his headphones off and turned around to look at daeun worriedly.

once he realized why she yelled, his ears turned red and he quickly turned the volume down.

"why do you blast your music so loud? i feel like your explanations in the past have been excuses."

soonyoung sighed at the question. she was too damn smart.

"it kind of has to do with my soulmate."

daeun's eyes widened. the topic of soulmates and relationships and that kind of area had never come up in their conversations, even after months of being extremely close friends.

"i haven't heard a song from them in a long time and i guess i blast my music to block out the silence and to possibly make it easy for them to find me."

"hosh i'm sorry, i had no idea. but seriously you make it so loud i can't even "hear" my soulmate's songs!"

"oops?" soonyoung cheekily shrugged his shoulders and for that he was met with a pillow to the face. he stared at the pillow then back at daeun before grabbing another one, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"oh it is on."
