kwon soonyoung always blasted his music. no matter whether he was at the studio, in the car, on the subway, or in his apartment, the music in his ears was always deafening. it was an obnoxious habit, you could say.

many of his friends knew of this habit, and most tolerated it until it became obnoxious—like it always does. however, no one truly realized why soonyoung had developed such a strange, loud habit. most assumed it was either a desire to go deaf or just him trying to express his love for music the same way he expressed everything else; loudly.

the true reason was that soonyoung hasn't heard a song play in his mind for 7 years. his soulmate hasn't heard a song in 7 years.

now he originally went to the darkest scenario: that they had died and he could never meet them in his lifetime. soonyoung refused to believe this theory, and decided to never ponder on the situation of his soulmate, but rather focused on creating the perfect environment for them to find him. playing loud music allowed for anyone around him to hear it, whether he was wearing headphones or they were outside the door to the practice room or apartment. it also allowed for him to ignore the silence in his mind, the loud rhythm vibrating through his ear drums at all times.

he knew he must be annoying those in the surrounding apartments, but no one ever outright complained to him so he continued on. occasionally there was the slap his poor wall recieved from the other side, but other than that, no resistance was to be found.

many of his friends liked to pop over randomly, but would at least give him a heads up so he could turn the volume down. sometimes, they failed to do so.

this was one of those times.

soonyoung was currently being lectured by none other than yoon jeonghan about how he has to stop being so disruptive towards the people around him. this speech was brought on by jeonghan walking into his apartment just as the beat drop of "sail" by awolnation played.

not a good moment for soonyoung.

jeonghan forced him to go door to door apologizing for his "obnoxious" behavior, promising that he will tone it down a bit or at least control his music choices. jeonghan sold it as him trying to be an authoritative older friend, but truthfully, soonyoung and jeonghan both knew this was for jeonghan's amusement.

thus, soonyoung decided to humor him.

after a ridiculous altercation with a strange older woman who shouted and chastized him once soonyoung revealed who he was, he was standing outside the door to the right of his apartment, praying that it wouldn't be as strange as the last.

he rang the doorbell, and after a stall that led to him almost walking away, the door opened.
