That night while Jughead and Betty were sitting at the Blossom's table – or whatever was left of the Blossoms, anyway -, Eleanor was standing at the very same place, as any other night, with the already familiar gun between her hands.

It wasn't until a black hoodie crossed her view that she stood up from the small bench. First thought that crossed her mind was that it was probably Jughead, but remembering her best friend's whereabouts, she quickly crossed the street and ran to the back door.

When Ellie got there, she raised her gun and pointed it at the two figures standing on the ground, breathless. Reggie Mantle looked up from Archie, and gestured with his head to the blonde girl, standing there with a surprised expression, and confused one.

"This is what I'm talking about, Andrews."

Eleanor put down the gun, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"He just passed by to say hi." Archie spoke up quickly, glancing at Reggie, and standing up next, "I wasn't expecting it."

"Clearly." Reggie rolled his eyes, mimicking his action.

"What are you two now," She replied, sarcastic, "bff's?"

"Very funny." He approached the blonde, leaning closer, under the redhead's jealous gaze, "I guess I'll see you soon, black swan."

The nickname sent shivers down her spine, and she only moved her eyes to Archie when she felt Reggie was completely gone. Now facing her boyfriend, Eleanor gave a sigh.

"Why aren't you sleeping?"

"I think I have a more important question to ask you..." He gestured to the gun, still in her hand, "Why?"

"It's for protection, ok?" Ellie explained herself, "That guy is still out there and –."

"Look, I can see in your eyes that you're afraid of something but you don't have to, ok?" Archie stepped forward, touching her hand, the one holding the weapon, "I'll protect you, I'll protect us. Trust me."

"I'm not afraid of him." She looked into his eyes with worry, "I'm scared for you, Arch. And your Dad. I fear him for you."

The redhead felt a small smile take over his face, and the next thing he did was press their foreheads together. They both closed their eyes, enjoying the feeling.

"Are we gonna be ok?" Eleanor dared to seek confort.

"I don't know." He still didn't open his eyes, "Do you think?"

"If you want to know, I think we're all on the same boat." She swallowed, her hand caressing his grown hair, "And it is sinking."

Archie could feel her hand shaking while she interwined it with his red hair, he opened his eyes and pulled her both hands to his lips – planting a soft and long kiss on them. She smiled at the gestured, tempted to say the three little words that had been poking her so much.
