A Plaster Heart

Plaster hearts and glass lungs,
hearts to brake there among.
The hands we place them into,
glass lungs shattered and our breath subdued.
A left side brain to hold out the hand to take the heart,
a careless mind to fall apart.
A broken heart through fingers slip,
the bleeding heart to seethe regret.
Every time we patch a heart,
some one comes to tear apart.
All we have done to recover,
now all you think is how could another?
Possibly love you now,
that all this emptiness in your heart resounds.
Plaster hearts to be crushed to dust,
salted tears now turn to rust.
How to trust another ever again?
a plaster heart to cure and mend.
Would be the only way,
to see the light of day.
Again your heart is handed away,
yet this time to my hand it will stay.
A plaster heart to crack the shell,
to release from mine the trace of hell.
A plaster shell you handed me,
and a golden heart was underneath.
One that with it I'll never part,
Kept inside my plaster heart.
