I was outside of the diner with Jinx, as we walked in, I was engulfed in the smell of grease and freshly made food. I searched the restaurant for the certain black and blue haired boy and I soon spotted him, sitting on a booth for four in a corner. I waltzed up to him and gave him a smile, acting as if nothing had happened. He eyed me curiously then his eyes met Jinx, they widened in recognition but he just kept silent.

"Hey, Derek. I assume you've met my friend over here." I gestured to Jinx who gave him a bland look.

"Sup, Asshole." Jinx spat, crossing her arms in anger.

"Yes, I deserve to be called that. Nice to see you too, Jinx."

"So Derek, I've got a few questions to ask you, alright?"

"Yeah?" He said as both Jinx and I cautiously slid into the other side of the booth, unsure of his plans.

"Well, I'll be asking the first thing that's come to my mind and that is how you left the school. How exactly did you leave?" I asked, acting as if he was a long time friend.

"Wow, I expected you to ask me questions about the whole boss and Jinx thing."

"Yeah, well Calvin here is a professional retard so you should've expected him to do that." Jinx replied.

"That's true, you know, at our first meeting, he had a gun pointed to his head and-"

"Yeah, I saw that."

"Hey, aren't we getting a bit too chummy all of a sudden?" I joked.

"Well, to answer your question, nothing's ever locked as long as you got a bobby pin." He waved a bobby pin in front of my face. "Hey, I was the one who taught mystery girl over here." He cocked his head to the direction of Jinx.

"Okay, so why exactly does your boss want to get a hold of Jinx?"

"I think it's best if she answers that question. She knows a lot more than I do, her being the whole target of the situation."

"Wait, so it is the money?"

"Well, yah."

"So basically, he's paying you to ruin your reputation in favor of him?"

"If you put it that way, you make me sound stupid but yes."

"And you willingly worked for him after all that he's done to you? I mean, he's killed your parents."

"I never confirmed that but you're correct. He killed my parents, my little sister, Ella. Heck, he would've killed Jenna, Mike and Brent if I hadn't joined. Don't get me wrong, I didn't just do it for them but also the money, it was just a selfish part of me speaking but after going through it for a year, you get used to it, they're not what I'd call family or friends, no, we're all simply individuals who work for the boss. That's it."

"He killed your family?" Jinx asked, shock in her voice.

"Well yah."

"I'm sorry I judged you. I just thought that you were a lying traitor, I'm sorry that I didn't let you show me your side of the story." She mumbled showing a hint of guilt in her expression.

"It's alright."

"Dude, I've got an idea. Why don't you just join us? I mean, we won't be able to give you money like he does but on my part, I think that it's way better than living the way that you do, no offense." I offered, feeling hopeful and friendly like I normally did.

"None taken and I'm not sure if they'll wanna see me again."

"It's alright. I guess that if we explain, it'll be fine." Jinx added.
