"Oh I know that thing..." I mumbled, trying to remember the movie.
"Still buffering." Jinx mumbled.
"Oh wait, I forgot."
"Whoop, he's dying."
"No, never mind. I just can't." I admitted in defeat.
"And that, my friends is the human Internet Explorer." She slowly clapped her hands while our other friends and I laughed.
We were at home, eating lunch and all I had in my hands was the book Mike gave me. I had just finished reading it about twenty minutes ago and I've really liked the story, it made me feel hope.
"So, Calvin." Mike was now next to me. "How do you like the book?"
I started tuning everyone else out. "It's really great, Mike."
"I'm surprised that you finished it today." He smiled at me.
"It's a nerd thing." I shrugged.
"You like Colin?"
"Who Colin?"
"The main Colin."
"Yes, very interesting. Makes me want to anagram."
"Then anagram something for me."
"What do you want me to anagram?"
"'School is really great, you know.' Yeah, that sentence."
"Hmm..." It took me some time. "Oi, tool shank, screw you." He laughed and so did it and that was when I realized that everyone else was also laughing. They must've been listening to our conversation. I looked over to each of them and it just so happened that Derek wasn't laughing one bit, just burning holes in my eye sockets.
"It's funny, you could say that and no one would get mad at you, plus teachers would even agree."
"I could see that."
"Such a smart bastard." Mike tussled my hair. I didn't care about what he just said because 1. I completely believed him, otherwise, I wouldn't have been labeled a 'nerd' and 2. I really have been thinking of myself as a bastard lately.
We were all laughing, not Derek, but before I could even question him, I was being dragged away to another room in the house. He threw me to the bed and locked the door.
"What now? You haven't trapped me enough yet?" I asked. Sarcastic and Confident Calvin was back.
"No, I just don't get why you're so fine with this!"
"What are you even talking about, you ass?"
"You and Jinx! You're both acting as if nothing has happened!"
"Isn't that good?" I asked in a 'duh' sort of way. "We're not making awkward situations or any sort of thing like that."
"But you're not trying to get her to change her mind!" He yelled, clearly pissed.
"So? I tried and I failed. Path of life."
"Dude, you like her, she obviously liked you. It's obvious that she did it for a reason but I know that it has nothing to do with you! Go do something about it!"
"Derek, I like her. A little crush is nothing. It'll pass so in the mean time so calm your tits."
"First of all, you and I both know that I am way more scrawny than you are," I chuckled at his comment. "And second, what if it isn't just a little crush? What if it's something more? What'll you do then?"
