*James’s POV*
Logan pulled into the parking lot of the treatment center and located Demi’s car. He parked next to it and then took out his phone and texted her to tell her that we were here. Carlos and I looked at each other with bewildered expressions; Kendall wasn’t flipping the fuck out.
I shrugged and then cleared my throat to speak. “Has she replied?” I asked Logan.
“Yeah, she’s on her way out,” he replied.
In less than five I saw the short woman, with now pink hair, walk out of the building and over to our car. Logan got out and gave her a hug, the three of us were awkwardly sitting in the car. Logan opened his door to tell us to get out. Carlos and I did.
*Kendall’s POV*
James and Carlos stepped out of the car to join Logan and Demi. I stayed in place in the passenger seat; I was nervous, but I wasn’t worried about seeing Addie. I was worried about physically hurting Demi.
This has been a constant internal battle. I understand that this is the best thing for Adele, but at the same time I wanted her home. Demi was the one who suggested treatment for her depression and self-harming habits, and Demi was the last person to see her the day she was admitted.
I took a deep breath and then opened the car door, today was about Addie, not me. I walked around the back of the car and opened the trunk. I took out my guitar case and walked to stand next to Logan. I felt his hand slip into mine, which gave me more strength. I still found myself staring at the ground however, I couldn’t look Demi in the eye.
*Logan’s POV*
I held Kendall’s hand in hopes that it would make him feel better as we walked into the building. He didn’t really respond other than not letting go, which was a good thing I guess.
Demi led us into a big room that was most likely used for group activities, fun days, and family days. There were tons of people about, but I didn’t see Addie anywhere. I noticed that even Demi was looking around in a panic and thought that Addie must’ve run off somewhere.
“Do you know where Addie went?” Demi asked a lady in scrubs, she must’ve been a doctor or nurse.
“Her room,” the nurse began, “She said she wanted to be alone with her fathers.”
“I’ll walk you guys there then,” Demi said turning back to us. Demi led us down a hallway, James behind her, then Carlos, Kendall and me falling not far behind. “Addie?” Demi asked walking into the room.
*Carlos’s POV*
Addie was lying in her bed facing the wall opposite us. “Demi?” Addie said in a mocking, sarcastic, and downright disrespectful tone, “What do you want now?”
“Turn around,” she said.
Addie did so. Her eyes lit up with happiness and excitement when she saw us. She rolled out of her bed and ran over to us. I stuck my arms out and picked her up, spinning her around. She giggled and wrapped her arms around my neck. “Hey baby girl,” I said, and even I could hear the smile in my voice.
