Chapter Five
Mac's POV
When we were leaving the Vet clinic, Noah was waiting outside. He has a favor to ask Scott. He wanted Scott to use his sense of smell to find a body that a werewolf may have dragged away from a car accident after murdering the little girl's family.
Scott, Stiles, and I were currently breaking into the father of the little girl's house. I did not want to come, but of course I got dragged along. We went through a back door that led straight into the room. I for sure thought we were gonna be caught when Stiles was opening the door as it squeaked loudly.
Currently Stiles and I were picking up things and practically shoving it in my brother's face.
"All I'm getting is some animal smell." Scott explained.
"What kind of animal?" Stiles asked. I looked towards the door and saw a very angry looking dog. I tapped Scott's shoulder and brought his attention to our current problem. It started growling at us. I stared at it in fear. I don't like dogs. They're cute, sure, but evil.
"Dog." Scott and I said. I stared at the demon in fear as it kept growling.
"Hi puppy." Stiles said, finally seeing the dilemma we were in. "Get rid of it."
"Me?" Scott asked.
"Yes, you." I whispered.
"Yeah, glow your eyes at it, something. Be the alpha." Stiles said through clenched teeth.
"I can't. I don't have control." Scott defended.
"Okay, buddy, you're going to have to try something." Stiles said. We look at Scott as he slowly moved toward the dog with a hand out. Like he was going to pet it.
"Nice doggy." Scott said in a shaky voice. It starts barking making us all jump back.
"Apollo!" Mr. Tate yelled, "Apollo shut up! Shut the hell up!" Just like that the dog stopped barking and walked away. I sighed in relief. I thought I was about to be a chew toy. Death by dog is not the way I wanna go.
Stiles handed Scott a book to smell. Instead of putting it up to his nose like expected, Scott just made a defeated Face.
"Anything?" I asked him.
"All I'm getting is that dog." He replied back. Stiles sighed and looked around the room for a second. He noticed a picture of Mr. Tate's daughter and took a picture of it. We then snuck out to Stiles' Jeep. We met Noah a few miles away from the Tate house.
"I'm sorry." Scott said to Noah. "I tried as hard as I could. If it wasn't so long ago, I might've been able to do it."
"It's okay. It was a long shot." Noah said, "In fact, it was a pretty terrible idea. I think I just ripped a wound open in that poor man. I never should've brought you three here. I don't know what I was thinking. Thanks for trying alright?" He then climbed in his truck and closed the door.
"See ya Noah." I said.
"See you two at home." He replied back and drove off.
"Aren't there a lot of cases that go unsolved?" Scott asked confused why Noah was so upset.
"Yeah, I just think this is one he felt like he could've figured out right now." Stiles explained.
"Why is it so important now?" Scott asked.
"Well, he wants to be able to solve one more while he's still Sheriff." Stiles said, staring off at the back of her father's car as it drove away.
