Chapter Twenty Seven
Mac's POV
I sat with my friends in the police station. Chris has drilled the story into our heads. Someone tried to take Scott's car. Two guys who had something sharp. They wore masks. If we got stuck we were to say, 'It happened so fast'.
"Mac." I was called into Noah's office. Officer Parrish wanted to get details from me of what happened. Noah was there for support and as my guardian. "Mac, tell me what happened." When I opened my mouth to speak, nothing but sobs came out.
I felt like I was about to throw up. It felt like I couldn't breathe. "I-It happened so fast." I said between sobs. I couldn't stop crying. Watching the light leave Allison's eyes was stuck in my head. Watching the Oni stab her and her dying was replaying over and over. I should've done more.
"It's okay, Mac. You don't have to keep going." Noah said and led me back to the bench the outside his office. Lydia and Scott had already talked to Parrish. Isaac was up next. I sat next to Scott and laid my head on his shoulder. We all stared off in the distance, replaying the events of the night. We all sat there wishing we had done more.
Isaac came back out and plopped dome next to me. I don't know how long we sat there before Noah came out of the office. He told us we could head home. I knew none of us were going to do that. Isaac was staring at Chris who was looking at the wall with a hard face.
"Go with him. Take him home." I said to Isaac. He looked at me with tears in his eyes, unsure. I gave him a reassuring nod and he headed toward Chris. I looked at Scott and Lydia. "What's next?"

We ended up at the Vet clinic. Stiles had called about how the nogitsune was trapped before because of the Nematon. Scott, Lydia, and I headed to y'all to Deaton.
"Stiles and Kira said it was the Nemeton that kept it trapped." Scott said to Deaton as we walked in the back room.
"The problem is this isn't even a person you're fighting. It just looks like one. It's a spirit that's taken the shape of a human." Deaton explained.
"The shape of my best friend." Scott mumbled.
"There's gotta be something that we can do." I said.
"Someone caught it once. Someone can do it again, right?" Lydia asked.
"I don't know. This thing was trapped a long time ago, before the Nemeton was cut down. It doesn't have the same power anymore." Deaton explained.
"Is there anything that does?" We looked at him hopefully.
"Possibly." Deaton said, "When the tree was whole, its wood was sometimes used to contain powerful objects. But those objects are very rare."
"Wait a second. Powerful objects? Like an Alpha's claws?" Lydia said.
"Which Alpha?" He asked.
"Talia Hale. Peter had them in this wooden box with a triskele carved on the lid." Lydia said.
"I know what box you're talking about. Derek keeps it In his supernatural pantry." I added. I've seen that box a number of times. I had asked Derek about it once and he said it was all he had left if his mother.
"What if it was made from the Nemeton?" Lydia asked.
"It was." Deaton said.
"How do you know?" Scott asked.
"Because I made it." He replied.
"So if we can get it, do you think it'll work?" I asked hopeful.
"It just might." Deaton said.
"I'll call Derek." I informed them. This had to work. We need this to work.
