"So," Calum said leaning his elbows onto the table he, Luke and I shared in the library where we were 'studying' during our free period, "Have you seen any chicks you wanna smash yet?"
"What?" I asked.
"Any cowgirls you want to let ride you into the sunset?" He elaborated.
"Sorry?" I said slowly.
"Have you seen any girls you think are cute yet?" Luke translated.
"Oh," I laughed, "um well, there is the girl in my math class."
"Ooohhhh give us the details!" Calum cried.
"Well she's small, I said slowly, dark hair, curvy in the right places....."
"What's her name?" Luke asked.
"Erin Samuels," I answered.
"No!" Calum cried.
"No!" Luke repeated.
"That's Michael's ex girlfriend," Calum informed me, "and ex girlfriends are off limits, everyone knows that.... It's like the first rule of the bro code."
"It's like the. First page of the guyble."
"What's the guyble?" I questioned.
"It's like a bible full of rules for guys," Luke informed me.
"Is that a thing?" I asked.
"It's metaphorical," Calum sighed, "But that's beside the point, Mikey will flip shit if he finds out you like her."
"But don't worry," Luke assured me with a smile, "We promise not to tell."
-
Several hours later, after school I was lying on my stomach on my bed, reading a biography on Julius Ceaser for history when my phone vibrated next to me.
Surprised that someone was actually calling me I picked it up and not recognizing the number pressed it to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Ashton, it's Michael," Michael answered on the other end, "Calum and Luke told me you want my sloppy seconds."
"What?" I asked.
"They told me that you like Erin Samuels," he sighed.
"Oh," I mumbled, sitting up as a feeling of terror started to wash over me.
"I could talk to her if you want," he said unexpectedly.
"You would do that?" I asked in surprise.
"Of course," Michael laughed, "I mean what are friends for."
"Thanks," I laughed, "This is going to sound crazy but I thought you were going to be mad."
"Please," Michael laughed, "That little hoe is all yours."
"Well, thanks," I said again.
"Don't worry about it," he answered, "well, actually, now that I'm helping you out I was wondering if you could do me a favor?"
"Sure, anything."
"You said you play the drums right?"
"Yeah, I do,"
"Good, the boys and I are doing a gig tomorrow night for like two hundred people and we need a drummer, I messed you on Facebook but you ignored me."
"Oh sorry," I apologized, "I never really go on Facebook but... Uh... Yeah I'd love to drum for you guys."
"Great!" Michael gushed, "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye," I said.
Michael then hung up.
"Who was that?" Lauren asked from the doorway.
"Oh, uh, just a friend," I shrugged.
"You should invite him over sometime,"
"Why?"
"He might be hot."
"Get out."
"Fine," she giggled holding her arms up in surrender, "it was worth a shot."
Suddenly my phone vibrated again and a message popped up from Michael.
'We're ditching tomorrow to rehearse be at my place by noon'
Sighing I agreed before typing Niall's number.
'I won't be at school tomorrow, cover for me?'
'Sure, where are you going'
'Michael's'
'What, why?'
'I'll tell you later'
'Whatever Irwin but this better be good'
