Prologue

A family business - the way each generation can have a special connection with their relatives throughout the years while making their own personal imprint on the business. It was also a way to understand more about the importance of family and the business side of matters. It's also an extremely quick way to inherit a fortune beyond relief - especially if you don't fuck it up yourself.

It's an undeniable feeling, knowing that a fortune would soon be laying in your hands, knowing you would have the ultimate control and everybody would be bowing to your feet once your name is officially the owner.

After all, everybody is a sucker for a rich, handsome man who also has knowledge beyond his years. The suits too.

Your mind mentally begins to make lists of aspects you would keep, change and alter like an automatic response, hoping it makes a big difference and a profit. That was the goal. Turning an already successful business into something even more spectacular, something that makes any competition fear the worse.

Sometimes even your dreams are altered by reality. Visually seeing yourself with ownership is a great photo, if only you could screenshot dreams. The big, fat grin you would give stepping into your new office on that rainy Monday morning, the motivation you would have to make your family proud of your success and accomplishments from the beginning you step in, to the final steps before getting out.

It's a desire that remains burning, from the possibility to the reality.

But what if something blocks the opportunity? Perhaps an accident? Bankruptcy? Legal difficulties? What if that opportunity to take over a business empire is just taken away because of reasons out of your own hands? It's a situation that nobody wants to face or even think of.

But what if the only thing stopping you from achieving your most treasured dream has deep brown eyes, a scarlet smile and a cold, steady heartbeat?
