Selena's POV

Justin and I managed to keep our little unexpected surprise from everyone we knew until we definitely knew our baby was healthy from the first scan. Though it took pretty much every nerve in my body not to spill and plenty of quickly thought out excuses when it came to drinking.

My superstitious side kicked in on full force and I didn't want to jinx my baby's health and the joy that has clouded Justin and I since our date a couple of days ago, as stupid as it sounded. I knew if I rejoiced into the fact I was expecting too much and too soon, things will fuck up.

We only talked about small things that were seemingly insignificant now. Just small planning. Well, Justin did go a little overboard but I believed he was very much more excited than I was.

Justin's even looking at place to go on holiday after our baby turns 1 for our first, family holiday. He's definitely not even on the same line to me, but seeing him this fired up with anticipation from being a father was the best, I couldn't be the one to blow out that flame, especially with Michael's death.

This was the first time Justin has been legitimately happy in weeks.

"Is that a new phone?" I look down to see Justin on his phone, but the colour had seemingly changed from a bar of gold to black, and the size was too big for his hand while before it was a more snug fit.

"I decided to get an upgrade, are you jealous?" Like an annoying child, he waves it in my face with an obnoxious grin. Gently I push his hand away and back onto his lap. That instantly made him protective over his new toy as he basically hugged it for protection. "Oi, be careful, it's not cheap you know."

"I mean, it's not like you could easily buy another one without making a dent in your money if the screen just suddenly brakes or it dies in a bath." I pulled an innocent mask on, smiling with a sweet voice.

But that definitely had him on high alter. "You wouldn't dare."

I lean in a little, my hand tracing on his thigh gently, just to the touch. "Try me."

After a mini stare off, he sits back with his arms crossed, we were back to him acting like a petulant child. "God, you're mean when you're pregnant."

I just laugh at him. "That's why you are marrying me."

With his gorgeous smirk, I panicked. "I don't know, I mean the sex is pretty wild, very enticing."

I shush him instantly because his voice altered the entire waiting for him, judging eyes pierced at us and I could feel the sudden urge to hide in my jacket.

"Selena Gomez?" The nurse called out, scanning the people before her.

"Thank god," I whisper into my hands before standing up.

"If only you don't try play games you know you won't win." He radiates smugness which if I only knew how I would wipe it off in seconds.

Justin and I, hand in hand despite still feeling the shame flushing my cheeks, followed her through the double doors behind her.

I was probably more anxious than him now, but then again Justin usually didn't like to show off visible negative emotion until a breaking point. Maybe that's an explanation for the moment in the waiting room, silliness to replace the anxiety.

She guided us into a dimly lit room where another woman, supposedly the sonographer, was sitting down, typing very loudly at her computer. Slowly, I must add too.

As Justin closed the door behind us, the noise must have altered her of our presence because she finished off her notes and slid her glasses off her nose while immediately standing to shake both of our hands with a firm smile on her face.
