Justin's POV
Around 5 hours later, I was finally making my way down the busy streets on my way to Fredo's house. Car headlights were illuminating the roads like it was already December time. It also sounded like it as the traffic was piling up insanely fast.
The anticipation was running thickly in my veins as I must have made endless concepts in my mind about what information is awaiting for me as well as what I could do with it. It somewhat kept me sane from the lack of moving and everlasting traffic. Knowing what I will become leverage to escape myself and my family from the Gomez grasp was gratifying.
Selena may be on some level business-smart and well-educated on those brainwashing reality shows, but damn she was so oblivious to the truth. She was the type to believe anything her heart was set out to believe, even if it was absolute bullshit. She probably believed in astrology, voodoo and unicorns prancing around in parallel worlds. I didn't care for making her a friend, I just wanted her to think that for a good amount of time. It was a ploy to possibly get rid of her efficiently or even find out weaknesses first-hand.
After the chaos had descended, it only took around 10 minutes driving in minimal darkness and back rounds before I saw Fredo's house in my sights and I had to restrain myself from the smile I was already wanting to bare. I could already taste sweet vengeance on the tip of my tongue, bittersweet.
I took a quick deep breath as I stopped the engine. For some reason, I needed a moment to myself as that moment of deviousness just vanished. My head sulked back to the headrest as I closed my eyes tightly, letting in only the sound from nature's surroundings and the cars passing by faintly. Even though I was seconds away from executing my plan the way I wanted, the thought of my father being in the crossfire was the only thing that would or could stop me. My father was a brilliant man, despite his indulgence with women. It was like a single taste of a woman was enough to be hypnotised completely and his moral conscious would withdraw with no warning.
But I knew the man my father was becoming wasn't what he would want at the end of everything. I would be doing him a favour which no reward could show appreciation.
I could already see his future self thanking me through the swaying trees in the distance.
The cool air hitting against my hot skin as I pulled myself out. I began to walk to the front door as my hands found there way down my blazer just to straighten it out from its crookedness and the missable creased fabric. I knocked on the door multiple times before Fredo's figure appeared through the tainted glass.
"Yo man. I thought you wouldn't be coming round since you were supposed to finish over an hour ago." Fredo moved to the side of the door so I could brush past and settle in the warmth of the home. Compared to the icy breeze from outside, the house was like a luxurious sauna.
"I had some paperwork to complete before I left and just to add to my luck, the traffic was unusually busy at this time. It was ridiculous." I huff as I make my way to the living room then the dining room at the end. Fredo lived in a generally small house which was designed to his stylish taste. He didn't care for size but cared for what he could show off from his philosophical items to his technological gadgets. Anything with an expensive label or items with so much rarity were somewhere in this house. It was his speciality, making everyone around him envy him if they couldn't afford to even look at an object with such value.
"I heard there was a traffic collision around here, maybe that's why it's been so bad. It must have been an awful collision." He paused as the moment turned melancholic. "Do you want a beer?"
He really knew how to change a mood quick.
"Yes please," I say with a smile as I sit down at the dining room table, getting ready for my true purpose to why I was here. I discreetly shifted my eyes around any possible places where the envelope could be placed, but I couldn't see it.
