SELENAS POV
3 weeks later
Everything felt chaotic since that Brian dude showed up. Every day was filled up with something to do from the moment we woke up until the moment we went to sleep and it was exhausting, to say the least.
We had been ensuring Michael's will was being done properly and ensuring everyone got their entitlement, which meant a lot of signing of documents, organising and planning. Brian was useless which made it all more stressful.
After the will revealed our brand new possessions, Justin and I decided to keep our current home as a way of an escape until we came to a finalised decision to whether we wanted to sell it or even rent it out as landlords.
The family home, Michael's old home was now officially ours, we couldn't even think of putting a price on it or see another family create their special times here. It had too many memories encrusted in the walls to even think about putting on the market. Too many open wounds.
The money came swiftly in our banks, including a locked account for Jazzy which had the other half of Michael's money which she can get full access too when she's 18. Michael didn't want his greed to corrupt her before she's had a chance to grow up and educate herself first, which was sweet in a way.
As I sat back in the living room, cloudy lemonade in my hand, this was the only tranquil time I have had in what felt like a decade and even if it lasted for a good second, I wasn't wasting it at all.
I kicked my feet up in the table and just let my eyes close, allowing the quiet surrounding engulf me. There were only faint sounds from movement from Justin who was doing god knows what which didn't faze me.
He had been frantic all morning and acting a little stranger than usual. I tried to give him enough space, this was the first time since Michael's death we stepped into this house and knowing this was now ours really set everything in stone.
Michael was gone - a fact we all knew but couldn't let enter our systems yet. Justin's especially. He held a good fight, but I was better at seeing the truth than he was at hiding it.
To my surprise, I managed to sip on my drink for around 15 minutes before I noticed the complete silence in the house and an empty glass, No footsteps. No talk. Nothing. I didn't think it was anything unusual but I admit, curiosity got the upper hand.
I rested the drink that was occupied with only a few cubes of ice and I went exploring for Justin to see what he was doing.
"Justin?" I called out, but I heard no response. I called out his name several times loudly, echoing against the halls to all the surrounding rooms to get blanked repeatedly.
I pace down the marble flooring, heels clicking away until I reached the end of the corridor which lead me Michael's downstairs office. Justin was just sitting at his father's chair, fiddling with a neatly aligned set of pencils. They looked freshly sharpened. He looked like he had been crying, his cheeks flared up to a faint red along with a wet smudge.
"Justin? Are you okay?" I ask, worriedly but I knew that was ridiculous. I sigh. "Of course you are not okay., what a stupid question"
His head jolts to my direction as if he didn't expect my presence overbearing him. "I just wanted some alone time in here."
