SELENA POV

Today was the last night of the chaos.
Tomorrow was my bachelorette party if that's what you could even call my night.
The next day was the wedding.
Two days was all I had before I committed myself completely to being a shitty person.
With each passing moment, I knew my nerves were starting to be more noticeably unsettled. Even thinking about small things such as flower arrangements made me feel uneasy about the upcoming day. Maybe it wasn't unusual to get wedding jitters before, I know many cases where cold feet can happen even on the most faithful and certain people, but it was because of the unfaithfulness running in my veins, the anticipation of even taking this large commitment to a man I'm indecisive about because I am more indecisive about his son.
"Char?" I made my way to my personal assistant's desk as I was on my way out to grab a cup of coffee from the canteen a few levels down. I still wasn't used to this personal assistant nonsense. Char was sitting at a small desk outside my office, camouflaging with the other workers on this level. "I need you to make sure my schedule is clear for the next four weeks and if I have any meetings or appointments, just cancel them please."
"Already done and dusted." She turns her head to me with a small smile as she stops typing on her computer. I give her a confused look, trying to remember if I ever mentioned it before, but she looked extremely proud. I probably did mention it before. "Michael asked me to do it for you the other day if that's what you are thinking. He thought you would forget to do it so he made sure everything was sorted beforehand."
"Oh." I was astonished. "I suppose he was right. It didn't even cross my mind to do something about my schedule until now." I felt a little stupid and outsmarted by Michael. I guess someone needed to think a little ahead and he just beat me to it. I shrugged at the action and just stared at the patient expression Char was giving me, waiting or an order or a task to endure.
My lips trembled as I thought what I could possibly say to Char. I couldn't even think of a small job she could occupy herself with. We were in the last 20 minutes of the working day, there wasn't much going on and if I didn't get my own coffee and I stayed staring at the same four boring walls of my office, I will start going insane.
"Is everything alright Selena?" She asks politely, still holding her innocent smile. Despite my interest in having a personal assistant, Chat was a definite friend in my life. She pretty much made every conflicting day bearable with her comedic side and bubbly personality. "You seem a little on edge."
I didn't respond straight away because although we drift from personal or business personalities in a heartbeat, I didn't know whether it was necessarily appropriate to unleash my concerns on her, especially without a source of caffeine.
"I'm great if you don't include wedding nerves and the fact I just got off the phone and stupidly let my friends organise a gathering and I already have a mental image of what is going to be like." I just sigh at the thought.
"Wedding jitters are normal so don't be daft. And what's the image of your night like?"
"Let me see." I perched on her side of the desk and crossed my arms, sinking into full imagination. "Broken furniture, one too many bottles of vodka everywhere, something worth more than my life obliterated in pieces, a stripper pole and an inevitable hangover in the morning." The disastrous aftermath was more concerning than the hen night itself.
The cleaning, the suffering, the getting ready, the anticipation... it all seemed too much and I suppose I wanted an easy way to do this - avoid anything that could make me a pissed off bride as much as possible.
