I placed the curling iron on the sink, letting the final curl drape in front of my face. The rest of my hair fell behind my shoulders neatly. I pulled out some makeup, I need to make sure not to overdo it, since I was going to wear a cheap mask for most of the night.
After applying my makeup, I stood up in my red and gold dress and walked back into my room. I still wasn't sure if Caroline and Bonnie were since I didn't have their phone numbers and they weren't at school today. I picked up my phone and turned it on, the time 6:34 displayed on the lock screen. I took my phone with me and raced downstairs to the kitchen.
"So you're ready," my mom looked up from the stove, "You look beautiful."
I smiled, "Thank you." I looked down at my feet.
"What's wrong? You always look down when there's something wrong." She stopped her cooking and walked towards me.
"I feel like I shouldn't go to this party. Caroline invited me just to be nice, no one is actually going to hang out with me. I'm the new girl."
She walked over to me and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder, "That's the point of going to these parties sweetie, you're supposed to meet new people, and most importantly, have fun. Just be your darling self, and everything will work itself out."
"This is so corny." I dryly laughed.
"Maybe it is," my mom removed her hand from my shoulder and walked over to a counter in the kitchen. "But I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Secretly, everyone wants to be friends with the new kid. Just give yourself a chance, okay?" She walked over to me again and placed something in my hands.
"You're letting me drive your car?" My eyes were wide, surprised that she would let me drive her car again after the mailbox situation.
"It's not cool having your mom driving you everywhere is it? Just make sure not to knock down the mailbox again." We both laughed. "I need to hurry up and get you a car."
"Agreed." I took the car keys from her hands. "I love you."
"I love you too. Drive safe."
I left through the back door in the kitchen and walked around the house to the driveway, and made my way to the Lockwood mansion Caroline mentioned.
=_-_-_=
When I arrived at the Lockwood house, the place was packed. The party was flooded out on the front lawn, and from what I could see, there was a mob of people inside. There were people still arriving, even though the party started a while ago. Cars were everywhere, littered around the front of the mansion, so I went to the parking lot outside. After I found a parking spot, I grabbed my mask and placed it on my face, making sure that the strap was secured on the back of my head. I took my phone and headed towards the mansion.
It was hard maneuvering through the clusters of people, added to the fact that I didn't know where I was going. I was looking for a familiar face like Bonnie or Caroline, but I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't see them at all tonight. There were too many people. My next mission was to find the bar. As I was walking deeper into the party, I saw Elena talking to some blonde guy.
"God you're hot," Elena stiffened, "Now go away."
"Thank you." He immediately said and walked away.
I walked up to her, "Hey, Elena I thought you weren't coming?"
"Well, I changed my mind." She pushed past me and walked into the backyard. What a bitch, I thought. She seemed different from when I first met her.
I turned around and saw a room where there four teens were drinking and dancing. My kind of scene. I walked towards the opened doors when I noticed that one of the guys in the room was the blonde guy that Elena was talking to. I walked into the room causing the four heads to turn towards me.
