"Step on it!" Caroline yelled as I carefully tried to maneuver through the busy roads.
"Calm down Caroline, Mrs. Lockwood isn't going anywhere. Plus, the last thing Tyler needs is two more people in the hospital." I deadpanned.
Caroline responded with a sigh and slumped back into her car seat. We were five minutes from the hospital, there wasn't any point in speeding up now.
"Did he say what happened to her?" Caroline asked.
"He wasn't really specific, just said she got in an accident." I shrugged.
"Forever the cryptic." Caroline rolled her eyes.
Caroline wasted no time as the car slowed to a stop in front of the hospital. She hopped out of the car and rushed into the hospital, leaving me behind.
"Slow the hell down, Caroline!" I yelled and I slammed the door behind me.
Caroline was long gone now, probably on her way to Mrs. Lockwood's hospital room. Before I entered the building, two familiar voices caused a peak in my werewolf hearing.
"What are you doing here?" Tyler asked whoever he was talking to.
"I should be asking you that. I told you not to come."
"She's my mother. I had to."
"Now we have to get out of here; Lock ourselves up before tonight."
As the voices got closer to where I was in the parking lot, two people came into vision: Tyler and... Jules?
"Well if it isn't Thing One and Thing Two." I crossed my arms as they approached me. "I haven't seen you guys in a while."
"Nice to see you too, Kennedy." Tyler smirked.
"I'll give you a few minutes." Jules mumbled to Tyler.
"Thank you." He responded.
"Just a few, Tyler." Jules nearly whined. She was clearly in a hurry.
"I got it."
Jules left, giving Tyler and me some time to catch up. It seemed sort of awkward at first, I had so much to say, yet I was at a loss or words. All I could do was look on with disgust.
"She's just making sure I'm safe." Tyler tried to appease me.
"So what, are you two, like, friends now?" I grumbled, tilting my head to the side.
"She's been helping me. How are you?"
"I heard about your mom. I just came to check in on her."
"She's banged up, but she'll be okay." Tyler shrugged.
"And you? Um...How's everything with you?"
"I'm hanging in there." Tyler looked down at his feet.
"Good."
Silence filled the air, but not the awkward kind. We both stood there just enjoying the company of each other.
"Yeah. I should get going. Jules and I need to get on the road." Tyler broke the silence.
"You're leaving again? Are you kidding me?" I stepped closer to Tyler.
"I left for a reason, Kennedy."
"Your explanation must have got lost in the mail." I angrily crossed my arms against my chest.
"Along with your goodbye." Caroline finished, approaching the two of us.
