"Just because I haven't run away yet, doesn't mean I don't hate your guts". Kennedy tied her hair up while pacing around the kitchen. Damon was flipping the last of the pancakes he made while waiting for Elena and Alaric to enter.

"So what does it mean?" Damon placed the final pancake on an empty plate. "Stop pacing. If I hadn't perfectly planned out today's festivities, I'd be feeling very nervous right now." He gestured with the rubber spatula that was in his hand.

Kennedy stopped to tie her hair up in a messy ponytail. "I don't care." She began pacing again. "Plus, you never told me where we're going anyways. Technically, you kidnapped me."

"I did no such thing." Damon raised his hands in defense. "I just... put you somewhere more comfortable to sleep." The raven-haired vampire shrugged.

After Bonnie had cast the spell to close the foothold to the other side, Kennedy was left sleeping in her living room alone. The next morning, Kennedy woke up in Stefan's bedroom.

"No, you definitely kidnapped me." Kennedy rolled her eyes. The feeling of hate she felt while watching him and Elena forget about her on the other side still lingered. That hate was never going to go away.

The fire underneath the skillet stopped its dance before Damon cleared the stove. Two plates were laid out on the counter, each decorated with two pancakes and a cluster of fresh blueberries. Though Kennedy didn't want to admit it, it smelled fucking delicious.

"Eat," Damon said simply before digging into his own plate. Kennedy merely shook her head in response. "Stop being a hard ass. I get it. You hate me. Consider this a peace offering."

Kennedy relaxed her tense stance, letting her arms rest carelessly at her sides. Without saying a word, Kennedy took the maple syrup from Damon and messily poured it over her own platter. The two ate in awkward silence, occasionally passing glances at each other.

Kennedy's nose scrunched at the scent of lilac and weakness that approached her. "Elena's here." She practically gagged. Elena and Alaric entered the kitchen with loaded backpacks strapped to their backs, causing Kennedy to pause her eating out of pure confusion. "Am I the only one here that doesn't know Damon's plans for today?" Kennedy questioned before throwing a handful of blueberries into her mouth. "I'm thirsty."

Damon responded by handing her one of two glasses he had poured seconds earlier. Kennedy nodded in gratitude before chugging the cold beverage.

"So," Damon started. "For those who haven't been enlightened on today's festivities..." Damon directed the statement to the only wolf in the room. "While I was out with 'Mason the Unfriendly Ghost' the other night, he showed me a clue to getting rid of the big bad hybrid. Problem is, I have to be invited in."

"So why bring all of us?" Kennedy crossed her arms against her chest. "Not that I'm complaining, but it seems like there's some dead weight. And it's not me." Her eyes closed in on Elena's with a fierceness. Elena shivered under Kennedy's cold glare.

"I figured it'd be fun to bring the team together." Damon walked from behind the counter he and Kennedy stood behind. "The Fantastic Four."

"Pretty sure that name is taken," Kennedy said plainly. "Plus, why bring me? I'd do perfectly fine at home. By myself. Away from you guys." Kennedy plastered a faux look of disgust on her face. "No offense, Alaric."

Alaric shook his head as if to say "None taken".

"You'll see when we get there." Damon waved in the direction of the front door. "Let's go, team!"

The Fantastic Four traveled the tunnels that extended from the old Lockwood cellar. Elena and Kennedy held flashlights while Alaric and Damon trudged behind them. A fire of irritation swelled in Kennedy with every question that Elena asked.
