My mom, dad and I sat at the small dining table in the kitchen in close quarters. The light-hearted feeling of seeing them again was replaced by a more serious tone.

"What exactly do you guys know?" I raised an eyebrow, looking at the two across the table. I couldn't wait to hear their theories of why I looked like a hot mess right now.

"We know you triggered your curse, Kennedy." My mom tried to force a smile on her face, but her solemn expression mirrored that of my dad's.

"How did you—"

"Our friend Jules told us. We raced here as soon as we heard the news." Mom's expression lightened.

"Are you mad?" I already knew the answer. I've felt guilty ever since I killed Scarlet, and them hating me would make it worse.

"No we're not mad, it's part of your DNA," Dad said. "We tried to put it off as long as possible."

"I guess we shouldn't have left." Mom sighed sadly.

"I'm—" my voice croaked, "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. I didn't want any of this." I looked down at the table to avoid eye contact.

"It's okay sweetie," my mom knelt down beside me. "It's not your fault. Your increased anger is basically hardwired into you."

"It was bound to happen. We made a promise to ourselves that once this day came, we would tell you everything." My dad tried to explain.

"What is everything?" I asked, exaggerating the last word.

My mother stood up from the knelt down position she was in, now towering over me.

"Get some rest sweetie, it's late. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow." She placed a warm hand on my cheek.

"What do you mean, Mom?"

"We're going to New Orleans." My dad finished.

=_-_-_=

"So why exactly are we here?" I asked, leaning my head on the car window.

I sat with my legs crossed in the backseat of the car I had driven for the last week or so.

"Have I mentioned that you're impatient, Kennedy?"

"About a million times, yeah." I snorted. My dad pulled the car to a stop. We were now in what looked like a marsh, with a single worn down cottage on the edge of the lake.

"Well, let's make that a million one times." My dad chuckled before unlocking all of the doors of the car and leaving.

I laughed and also left the car, so did my mother. We followed my dad who stood closer to the lake, in front of the small house.

"This is where your biological family and your pack spent most of their time. The Bayou was sort of a safe haven for them." Dad announced.

"Where is everyone?" I asked, looking around the Bayou.

"I'm not sure, they probably fled or—" He took a breath as if was preparing to make a speech.

"Werewolves haven't been so popular in New Orleans, especially the French Quarter. Someone in power placed a curse on all of the werewolves in your pack, which reversed the effects of the full moon. It made it so that they would be in their wolf form for the entire month, but once the full moon was out, they would become human for only that night." He finished.
