I sat there in the basement for what seemed like hours, waiting for the dormant vampire to wake up. The charred smell of fire still lingered and it was making my head hurt. I almost would've thought he was dead forever until he suddenly took a large gasp of breath.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty." I offered a soft smile to the original. It took him a while to respond, he was looking around wildly at this point.
"I can't-I can't breathe! What's happening to me?" Elijah managed to say through gasps. He tried to rush through the doorway but an invisible barrier permitted him from doing so.
"What's going on?" I asked. I was genuinely worried about his condition, no matter how much I disliked him in the past.
"I can't... I can't be in this house." He tried to explain.
"It's probably because you're not invited in anymore." I came to the conclusion.
"Then get me out of here." His body slams into another wall and at superhuman speed, he disappeared. The only place he would be was outside the house, where he didn't have to worry about choking to death.
I ran to the front door as quietly as I could, where I saw him crouching outside. Once he saw me he rushed at me, but to no avail. I was still inside the house where he wasn't invited in.
"What happened?" Elijah asked.
I wildly shushed him, waving my hands all over the place, trying to signal that people could be listening. I brought my voice to a whisper. "The Salvatore boys and their girlfriend are upstairs. We can't talk here." I paused for a moment, looking at his confused expression. "Can I trust you?"
"Can I trust you?" He returned.
"Touche," I pulled the dagger from behind me and handed it to him as a sign of good faith. "Let's get out of here."

Elijah had requested that I bring him to the Lockwood mansion, which I felt like it was the least I could do since he literally got roasted by one of my friends. I guess Damon got impatient. As I pulled up to the house, I noticed that the mayor's car was still in the driveway. We both got out of the car, quickly making our way to the front door before anyone saw Elijah's singed clothes.
"I don't mean to be rude, but why are we here? I mean I couldn't imagine why you'd want to go here out of all places."
Elijah looked up, his face held a calm that could stop hurricanes, but cold enough to start blizzards. He didn't respond, he simply knocked on the door. The knock was quickly followed by the door opening, revealing a frantic Carol Lockwood.
"Elijah, Kennedy! What are you doing here? What happened?"
"I've had a bit of an incident, Carol. I'm hoping you could help." Elijah responded calmly, as if he didn't look like he just stepped out of an oven.
"Well, I'm on my way to a meeting, so I-" Carol was cut off by Elijah grabbing her and holding her close to his face, compelling her.
"It won't take but a minute of your time."
"Of course. Anything you need." Carol responded with a smile.
"Thank you."
I crossed my arms over chest and rolled my eyes before following the two into the mansion.
"Well, first things first. I'm going to need a change of clothing." Elijah lifted up his suit jacket, causing a few ashes to fall to the ground.
"Well, we can try one of my husband's suits. I haven't boxed them up yet." Carol cheerfully offered.
"Wonderful," Elijah replied before turning to me.
"How did you know she's not on vervain?" I asked, my arms still crossed over my chest.
"Because I'm the one who got her off it. Right before you and your friends killed me. Twice. If you'll excuse me. I'll be down in a moment."
I was only able to respond with a huff before he followed the mayor up the stairs.
I found myself wandering into one of a living room, a room with a similar style as the office room where Tyler triggered his curse. I sank into one of the patterned seats and placed a hand on my forehead.
Did I do the right thing?
Just as quickly as he left, the original vampire showed up once again standing upright at the entrance of the living room.
"Come with me, we have much to discuss," he said, holding out his hand. I rose from my seat and walked over to him, cautiously taking his hand before he led me out to the enormous backyard.
"So as you've seen, nothing can kill an Original. Not Sun, not fire, not even a werewolf bite. Only the wood from one tree. A tree my family made sure burned." Elijah started as we walked around the edge of the courtyard.
"That's where the white ash for the dagger comes from. The one that my friends used to temporarily kill you."
"Yes. The witches won't allow anything truly immortal to walk the earth. Every creature needs to have a weakness in order to maintain the balance."
"This still doesn't make sense. So the Sun can't kill an Original. Why is Klaus so obsessed with breaking the Sun and Moon curse?" I asked, looking up at Elijah with what only could be a confused expression.
"Right. The curse of the sun and the moon. It's all so...biblical-sounding, don't you think?" Elijah cracked a small smile.
"Hey," I slightly nudged his shoulder. "What's so funny?" I couldn't help but smile for some odd reason. Elijah paused, slipping his hands into his pants pockets.
"It all started in 1492..." Elijah began to trail off, explaining to me the entire story of the origin of the sun and moon curse.
AN (PLEASE READ):
Hey guys sorry I ended it that way, I didn't really know how to continue it tbh. As you guys have realized I haven't been updating as frequently as I used to. At first, it was because of school, but now that I am out of school I don't really have any motivation to continue it. It would probably help more if you guys were more active, which is why I have developed a new rule: for me to update a new chapter there has to be five comments on the previous chapter. Not comments saying UPDATE but comments that are actually about the plot of the story. For example, I will need five comments on this chapter and then I will start working on the next one. Hopefully, this will help me feel more motivated to continue and finish the story ❤️
