"Kris?"
"Mhm?"
"What are we?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like, are we boyfriends?"
"Uh, no. I'm not gay."
I pulled my hand from his hair, eliciting a groan as he sheepishly did that usual nose wrinkle. I couldn't continue our usual cuddling session with that answer. Kris looked up from his book, mirroring my frown.
"What now-"
"So you're not gay, but you're just a-okay with acting like a boyfriend to me?"
Kris blinked, dumbfounded as he shrugged. "I mean, yeah."
I sat up, crossing my arms. Kris dropped his book, a hand on my shoulder as he stuttered. I swung one of my feet off the bed and Kris awkwardly leaned forward to wrap his arm around my waist, gently pulling me back.
"Chan, hey, I'm sorry."
"About what? Not being gay?" I shook my head, keeping my eyes downcast. "I'm not blaming you for that."
Kris rolled over and sat up at my side, breathing a sigh as he caressed my cheek. I shut my eyes as I chewed the inside of my cheek and Kris pressed himself closer to me. After a bit his lips pressed against my temple, his hand finding mine and squeezing gently.
"Don't be angry, Chan, and please don't be upset."
"Upset?"
"You're crying silly."
I grumbled in response, but Kris was already wiping away the stubborn tears. I leaned into him once more, crossing my arms and refusing to meet his eyes.
"Chan, I... I didn't mean what I said. You know that." Kris sighed, his fingers twirling my hair. "I'm not... this is unusual for me, being in this industry. I'll work on being a good man, for you and our careers, okay? I promise."
I finally glanced up to see a determined look on his face. Kris glanced over and smoothed over his expression before kissing me, murmuring against my lips about dinner. I gave a sound of agreement before pulling him back onto the mattress, deciding to ignore the past and future for now. The handsome man holding me tight was enough to override anything else.
