Chapter 12 | Just tell us

I need to decide when I want to tell Jackson I have feelings for him, but I have to do it so I don't seem too desperate and I can't leave it too late otherwise Jinyoung will steal him.

Again.

My hand ached as I looked at my phone, my heart beating wildly in my chest

Should I press call?

I know doing so will either make me regret my entire life choices, or make me the happiest man alive.

I can't rip my eyes away, just one movement could determine my fate.

With shaking hands, I pressed 'call', inching the phone towards my ear and rehearsing my lines in my head.

Say you want it.

Don't be afraid, it's not going to last long.

The dial tone made my skin crawl, and when the other line picked up, I knew it was too late.

"Hello thank you for choosing Pizza Hut, how may I help you?"
"Five large pizzas please, two pepperoni, two Hawaiian and one cheese," I breathed into the phone, "pick up."
"Sure thing, that'll be $35.70. Can I get a name for that one please?"
"Ima Ho, thanks. I'm going to get my girlfriend to pick it up."
"No problem, that'll be ready in half an hour or so."
"Thanks, bye," I dismissed, hanging up the phone.

Pizza might help me decide on when to tell Jackson.

Time to pick up my girlfriend.

--------------------
"What are you doing here? It's a Monday morning, I had no classes today and I've finished my paper so I didn't even have to wake up until at least three this afternoon."
"It's one o'clock in the afternoon, you'll live."
"Still morning to me."
"I'm getting pizza, want some?"
"Of course I do, what kind of question is that?"
"I'll drive you there but you need to go in and get it."
"Are you paying?"
"Always."
"Okay deal, just let me get dressed."
"Thanks, love you."
"Shut up, you ruined my sleep," they mumbled, quickly slipping behind the door for a minute and walking out fully dressed.
"That was quick."
"I try to be, are we taking my car?"
"You're the only one who isn't in class with a car, why else would I ask you?"
"Wow! So that's the only reason you wanted me to go?"
"No! Of course not, Hoseokkie, I love yooou," I smiled, an angry Wonho walking beside me.
"Whatever... gold digger," he huffed, walking to the elevator.

I'm keen for some pizza.

--------------
"I can't believe you Mark."
"What did I do this time?"
"Ima Ho. Are you serious? You made me say it out loud and you said I was a girl! I could have got her number-"
"Well, I did pay for them."
"Whatever," Wonho mumbled as he pulled up at college.

Whatever is what Wonho says when he doesn't want to argue anymore.

Just something I've picked up.

"Where shall we devour these pizzas?"
"Your dorm room?"
"Jinyoung will be there, so if you-"
"My apartment. Definitely. I hate Jinyoung with a passion."
"What did Jinyoung do?"
"Every single time I see him he says or does something that makes me hate him even more. I pretend to be friends with him but it's only because he's your friend."
"Sort of, Jinyiung and I have a really bad history but now it's sort of mutual."
"Lucky you," Wonho commented sarcastically. "Anyway, are we going to Hyunwoo's?"
"Sounds like a plan, or should we crash at Shownu's and invite everyone? I'm sure there will be pizza left for everyone in class? And considering Hyunwoo has the whole place to himself we don't have to give a stranger free pizza or disturb them with our loud group gatherings."
"Mark. You. Are. A. Genius. Even if he is not there I can find an excuse, I've charmed that office lady so I'm all set."
"You're pathetic."
"I'm talented."
"You're more than just charms, Wonho, you're a top student."
"Yeah but no one knows that."
"Why not?"
"Because all they care about is how hot I am," he shrugged, helping me take the pizzas to Shownu's room.
"That can't be right," I replied, knocking on Hyunwoo's door.
"You'd be surprised."
"Yes?- Why do you have five pizzas?"
"Pizza party!" I called, shoving my way into his room.
"Well, I can't say no."
"We've invited everyone else," Wonho spoke as he, too, barged his way into the room.
"I wouldn't expect any less," Shownu mumbled, a smile creeping into his face. "What's the party for?"
"Mark is confessing to Jackson."
"Why?"
"Because he can."
"Fair enough."
"Minhyuk said he's on his way," Wonho spoke as I placed the pizzas on the table.
"Great, I'm excited."
"So Mark, why are you confessing to Jackson?"
"REVENGE!" Wonho screamed.
"No, Wonho, I actually have feelings for him, you know."
"Mark? Feelings? Woah," Wonho joked.
"He confessed to me yesterday, but if I don't tell him my answer soon I have a feeling Jinyoung will confess. Jackson said their 10 year friendship anniversary is next week so I think that might be when he's going to do it."
"Scandalous," Shownu laughed.
"We'll see what happens," I smirked.

Only time will tell.
------------------
"Truth or dare?" Wonho spoke to Minhyuk, it was an hour since we first arrived and it was still the four of us, the others are 10 minutes away (they decided to buy some soda).
"Truth."
"Who hurt you?"
"What?"
"The night of the party. Who was it?"

The mood has changed drastically now. I've never seen Hoseok so serious.

"I pick dare."
"I dare you to tell me who it was."
"It doesn't matter anymore, Hoseok, that happened ages ago."
"It was two days ago, Minhyuk. You're face isn't any better. Now, who was it?"
"It's irrelevant now-"
"Minhyuk, please tell us," Shownu pleaded.
"You guys have to promise not to hurt him. Don't even tell Hyungwon, or Kihyun, Jooheon and Changkyun."
"Why? They should-" Shownu started.
"I'll tell them later. I'm scared of you guys finding out, and then beating him to death."
"I promise I won't do anything, just tell us," Wonho begged.
"I won't do anything," Shownu said.
"I won't either," I added.

"Please don't get mad at me," Minhyuk sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"We aren't mad, Hyukkie."
"It was Jinyoung."

That's when everything came together.

Jinyoung's bruises.
And I didn't see Jinyoung for the rest of the party, I was too busy with Jackson.

If I had been with Minhyuk, maybe it wouldn't of happened in the first place.

Minhyuk didn't come over yesterday because Jinyoung was there.

And Jinyoung lived as if he didn't hurt my best friend.

"That fuc-" Wonho started, but Shownu cut him off.
"What happened?"

"He was drinking, and I was in his way. He got alcohol all over him, he got mad and then he started talking dirt about Hoseok and I got mad too. Then I said he was an 'inconsiderate f**k' and he hit me, I hit him back and it just-"
"Oh Minhyuk-"
"I didn't mean to, I mean it should have been fine but I got mad too. I should have left, it's all my fa-"
"Don't you dare finish that sentence, Minhyuk. Jinyoung is the one at fault here. He was intoxicated. He threw the first hit." Wonho growled, the pizza was the last thing on his mind.
"I know but-"
"Stop blaming everything on yourself. You blame yourself for the break up, you blame yourself for Mark not talking to us, Minhyuk you're literally perfect and I don't understand why you talk to yourself like that," Wonho sighed.
"I don't know why..."

Does this mean? All of that time, Jinyoung was the reason Minhyuk didn't take Business Studies?
"Minhyuk?" I asked him, a couple of minutes after the conversation died and we were in shocked silence.
"Yeah?"
"Is Jinyoung the reason why you didn't take Business? Is he the one triggering you?"

Please, say no.

"I'm sorry."

Which is Minhyuk's version of 'yes'.

This whole time I've been living with the same person my best friend fears.
