Faerydae and Serethiel ran through the halls of Rivendell as fast as their legs could carry them.

"Must you leave?" Serethiel asked once they had reached the stable. "we have important matters to talk about."

"That we do and I promise we will." Fae said, tacking her horse. "But if I don't leave now Saruman will keep me here for questioning, meaning Thorin will be on his own which means...actually I don't want to think about what that means." Serethiel sighed and helped her pack her bags. Fae suddenly stopped and looked at her.

"Come with me." She said. Serethiel looked shocked at the thought.

"No absolutely not." She said.

"Oh, please do, besides Gandalf won't be joining us until after Saruman is done with him, which means I have to babysit 13 dwarves and a hobbit until then." Fae said. "Besides I need you to do something for me and it's on the way."

"what is it?" Serethiel asked.

"We speak when riding." Fae said, climbing onto her horse and sticking her hand out for Serethiel to jump on behind her.

"I don't have my weapons or...oh, thanks" she said as Fae clicked her fingers and her weapons and travelling gear appeared on her. Serethiel sighed and took her hand jumping on behind her cousin.

"Imeúre-ve i súre, Quesse. (Run like the wind, Quesse)" Fae said into her horse's ear as the bolted out of the stable of Imladris, ignoring the shouts of 'stop!' coming from Saruman and Elrond. As they were leaving Fae, heard her mother's voice in her head. "N-varna melnen, váre-i cor. (Be safe my love, protect the ring)"

As soon as they were out of the reach of the elves, Serethiel and Faerydae jumped down from the back of Quesse. They walked in silence for many moments before reaching the bottom of the mountain pass. Fae stopped in her tracks.

"Redhorn pass" she muttered. Serethiel stopped and looked at her in shock.

"Are you sure?" she asked. Fae just nodded. "why would he take this pass, surely he knew you were to follow him...unless you didn't tell him." Serethiel said. Fae just turned away.

Flashback:

"We are really sorry you know?" said Kili. Fae just shrugged. "Don't speak of things you have no experience of." She said, ignoring them once more.

"What happened?' Fili asked. Fae just shrugged and turned herself away from the princes. They sighed and walked back to the fire.

"If you won't tell them at least tell me." Thorin said coming up behind her. She shook her head once more. "That is a story for darker days, melnen" she said, walking away from the cliff and going to sleep.

End Flashback.

She stepped forward once more to examine the tracks. They had most certainly come this way, she could tell by the scuffle marks.

"Did Elrond clear the goblin caves that were up here?" she asked changing the subject.

"Why didn't you tell him?" Serethiel asked. Fae just sighed. "What was I going to say." She stated. "Besides he was too busy. He had a mountain to reclaim."

"And a queen to satisfy." Serethiel said kindly. "You will understand one day little cousin, everything is better when you talk about it. And in answer to your previous question, no he didn't." Fae sighed once more. "Come." She said. "We take the path through the forest, we should be able to meet them on the other side, and if not we will have easier access to those tunnels." Serethiel nodded and jumped back on the horse, Fae following swiftly behind her.
