Chapter 34: The sleepover!
Saturday 13 April 2013 5pm
I’m thinking about phoning Bonnie to come over, I hope she can.
****SCARLET ON THE PHONE WITH BONNIE****
“Hey, Bon-dora,”
“Well howdy Scarlet!” Bonnie says
“What’s gotten into you today? You seem all lively, which is a good thing by the way” I laugh
“Well nothin’ really, just me bein’ me.” She laughs, “So what’s up Scarlet?” She laughs again
“Nothin’, I was just wonderin’ if you could come over for a bit.” I pause and breathe in excitement. “Even to sleep if you want?” I say bursting out with the excitement.
“Well, here’s the thing, Mia is staying over so I’m thinkin’ ‘would my mum let us both come to yours’ I mean if that’s ok with your mum?” Mia asks Bonnie’s mum if they can come over.
“Well my mum is out at the moment and she won’t be back until later, I know I have Angel here with me, but he’s fifteen now, he doesn’t ‘play’ with girls no more. I’m sure my mum wouldn’t mind anyway, so yeah you can come over if your mum says you can.”
“My mum said as long as it’s ok with your mum I’m allowed over, Mia is allowed over too, and we have to be back by anytime Sunday.”
“Yes!” I mutter under my breath “You’re allowed over Angel said it’s ok for me to invite people coz he’s got his mates over too, I live at 5 Beachgrove Avenue.” I laugh and Bonnie says goodbye, then I go get some things ready and phone the other girls to see if they can come over.
****SCARLET ON THE PHONE WITH STORM & LUCY****
“Hey Stormie, Luce”
“Star... How’re ye lass” Storm says to me
I laugh, “You’re another one that’s all cheerful tonight, I’m good thanks Stormie. Anyway, I’m having a sleepover and I was wonderin’ if you wanted to come, bring Luce along too.”
“I’ll just go ask if we both can come.” Storm says to me. “I’ll pass you onto Luce, here she is.”
“Scarlet?” Lucia says to me
“Hey, Luce. How’re ya?”
“I’m great thanks, so you’re having a sleepover huh?” Lucy asks me
“Sure am and you’re invited.” I laugh
“I’ve noticed that or you wouldn’t be talkin’ to me now.” I hear Lucy giggle.
“Yeah,” I laugh a little
“Here’s Storm back,” Lucia passes the phone back to Storm
“Here’s the thing Star, my mum said…” Storm sighs
“Look it’s okay, you can both come round tomorrow if you wanna?”
“Why would we do that if we can come round today?” Storm laughs
“Not funny Storm…” I laugh too “Pack your things then, and I’ll see you soon, I live at 5 Beachgrove Avenue, bye.”
“See ya soon Star, bye.” Storm says and hangs up the phone
Friday, April 19 2013, 3pm
Today I asked, “Can Storm stay over?” as it was Friday, also we’re off tomorrow, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Mum is getting ready to go shopping for clothes, not just for me but for my brother too, she smiles at me; her smile always warms my heart and fills it with love.
She answers my question saying, “Yes Storm can come over, only if you help me get ready.” By that she meant cleaning the house, making sure it is spotless.
It has been so long since I’ve spoken, or saw my dad, by now I have forgotten everything about him, I don’t even remember who he is anymore, what he looks like or how he dresses.
My dad is nothing but a blur now, just an image of him still remains in my mind, only him no one else. He has been gone for five years; hopefully he will be home soon as my eleventh birthday has been and gone.
