Everything can go downhill so quickly.
I looked up at Jennie, "I really don't want to bother you with this... but I need to talk to someone."
"What happened?" She asked. "It's about Mark right?"
"Right." I said.
"Take it away."
I took a deep breath, "So we were just together, taking a nice walk to the coffee shop nearby since today's the ONE DAY it's not raining.... And we were just talking and I was just about to leave. And then, sorta like an afterthought I told him: 'we should be a little less romantic around Jennie' and Mark just... explodes."
"Oh my... what did he say?"
"Well first he said, 'We don't need to do anything to appease others' and I was like 'it's not that deep I just want to be better to Jennie.'"
"Wait. You two fought... because of me?" Jennie questioned, "And you stood up to him for me?"
"Well of course, what else was I supposed to say?"
"Then what happened?"
"We fought...... and it ended with me... telling him that I needed a friend more than I needed a boyfriend right now... and then I left."
"Gosh..... and it was all because of me...?" Jennie breathed, "Fuck I feel so bad!"
"Don't bother, I knew this was coming anyways. I should leave now, I just needed to talk to someone."
"Wait! I think we should act less like friends in front of Mark..."
I was slightly frightened for a second, and then I smiled, "Ha ha, so funny..." I said sarcastically.
"Laughter is the best medicine."
"Then tell a funny joke."
"MY JOKES ARE FUNNY!"
"NO THEY AREN'T GET OUT OF YOUR FANTASY WORLD DUMB HOE!"
"YOU WANNA GO THERE?" Jennie walked right up to me, "I'm breaking up with you."
"Me too."
"I did it first bitch!"
"I did it second."
"I just..... I need solitude right now, not a boyfriend or a girlfriend or a friend." Jennie said with a high pitched whine, a glorious imitation of my voice... even though it was actually lower than hers.......
"Fine then! I'll leave!" We completed our little mock fight, I waved goodbye, and walked out.
Once at home, I made myself a bigass bowl of cereal, piling up the Froot Loops until they nearly spilled out of the bowl. I sat down.
Mark would take up none of my time until I was face to face with him again. I really didn't think he'd be that dismissive of our friend's feelings... and why the hell did it matter that I knew him first (even if it was only by a day) and that he introduced me to her anyways.
