Ginger is above!

Several days passed and the cats on the ship stopped keeping count, though last Owlflight remembered, they were reaching over a quarter moon. The days were spent hunting, storytelling and most importantly, training. The cats, especially Oakcharge, wanted to keep their skills sharp. Owlflight spent her days training Bear, who was quickly becoming a quick friend. Owlflight was delighted to have a cat to train, since she never got an apprentice of her own. She wondered if she'd ever have an apprentice of her own. As the days on the ship grew longer and longer, she began to doubt the heart of the prophecy.

"What's wrong," Bear asked one day as they were training. Owlflight looked up from her battle crouch.

"It's nothing really," she sighed, "Just... I can feel this distance growing between me and my birth Clan, between me and StarClan. I'm beginning to wonder if they're still guiding my paws, or if I've already failed the mission I set out on... I hate to think I've disappointed my ancestors." Bear nudged her.

"Hey, cheer up," he grinned. "It's not like you to be so sad. I'm sure StarClan sent you into the city, and onto this ship for a reason. You just have to find out what that reason is." Owlflight blinked at him grateful.

"Thanks, Bear," she murmured gently, touching the tip of her tail to his shoulder. "Come on, we ought to keep practicing." And practice they did. The cats stuck on the ship practiced battle skills, hunting techniques and moves signature to those of the Clans, all while developing new strategies to hunt the wily rats.

The rats and mice on the boat were much more cautious than those of the wide forest. They froze and ran at every small sound, and were faster than even the rabbits of WindClan's moor. Owlflight had developed a new hunting technique that her friends had picked up on quickly. Each morning, she's lead a hunting patrol onto the crates, climbing and sleuthing high above the shadows where the mice slunk, dropping onto her prey from above before they could sense her presence. It's proven to be quite effective!

Days passed and the cats never grew weary, nor less aware. They stayed vigilant in all matters until one morning, a loud roar spooked them awake and the ship lurched.

"What was that?" Owlflight whimpered in fear. Bear stood, shaky. All the cats hissed quietly as a sudden light cut through the dimness they'd grown use to. A cool breeze wrapped around the group and the cats stared at each other in amazement. Ginger purred.

"Thank StarClan!" She sighed in relief, "We've landed!"

Hi everyone! I know this chapter is brief but this is only an interlude until Chapter Ten. To clarify, the cats were on the cargo ship for 36 days, traveling across the sea from Liverpool, England to a small, port town in Alaska, a pit stop before the ship set forth again. We are going to be based in a small seaside city for the duration of Chapter Ten and maybe Eleven. Then we will set forth into the wilderness where surprise in abundance will await us!

So hang tight, we've got quite the adventure ahead of us!

Yours truly,

DizzyLeaf
