Ravenleaf is above!!
The sun shone on the open moorland, and a young WindClan warrior crept stealthily behind a fat rabbit. The she-cat twitched her whiskers, checking the direction of the wind. Happy that she was still downwind of her prey, she continued her hunt. Just as she was about to pounce, a twig snapped behind her, alerting the rabbit.
Mouse-dung, she thought, and hastily shot after the rabbit, but it was too late and the rabbit found its burrow. She gave a frustrated hiss.
"I'm so sorry, Owlflight!" Owlflight turned to find her white littermate, Buzzardwing, bounding toward her. The pretty white she-cat ducked her head sheepishly. "I was trying to find you to tell you that Onestar is looking for you. I didn't realize you were stalking a rabbit." Owlflight sighed. Like every cat in the clan, Buzzardwing knew that Owlflight had yet to catch a moor rabbit. Unlike the rest of the younger warriors, however, Buzzardwing was more sympathetic to her plight. Constantly, the young warrior was subject to ridicule and teasing for her inability to catch a rabbit. It was unheard of in WindClan! She always saw the senior warriors give her pitying eyes, for they knew as well as she why she couldn't breach the WindClan milestone.
Owlflight, and her siblings Ravenleaf and Oakcharge, were born to a ThunderClan warrior. Their mother, Hollyleaf, was a half-clan cat. She left them when they were four moons old with her father in WindClan when it came time to fight in the Dark War, where she died a brave warriors death. Owlflight and her littermates were fostered by a WindClan queen called Beeflower, who is Buzzardwing's mother. Owlflight was apprenticed in WindClan and received her warrior name only a quarter moon ago. The
warrior turned to her friend.
"What does Onestar need?" She asked, her tone light and friendly despite her disappointment in missing her catch. Buzzarwing brightened.
"I dunno, but it seemed important. Let's go!" The two she-cats abandoned the burrow, bounding toward WindClan camp. As they neared the camp, they were joined by Ravenleaf , a lithe black she-cat and Owlflight's sister. She had a plump, gray rabbit dangling from her jaws.
"Morning, Owlflight," she mumbled around the rabbit, "Still no luck?" Owlflight ignored her sister and Buzzardwing shook her head. No luck.
The three she-cats crested the hill, and the WindClan camp came into view. Thick clumps of heather dotted the camp, which was settled in a large hollow, sheltered from the wind. They made their way down the slope, pushing through thorny brambles into the camp clearing. Few cats were in camp. Beeflower, the beautiful queen who fostered Owlflight and her siblings, lay in a clover patch, sunning while her newest litter played in front of her. Not far off was Fernpaw, the Clans only apprentice, who appeared to be enthralled in a story Whitetail was telling her. Onestar waited for Owlflight by his den. He beckoned her with his tail, and only then did she notice Kestrelflight and the ThunderClan medicine cat, Leafpool, at his side. Owlflight was immediately wary. Why was a ThunderClan cat here? she thought, her heart quickening. She waved her tail at her littermates, leaving them to join her leader. She saw the head toward the prey pile. She slipped quietly into Onestar's spacey den, the scent of forest reaching her nose immediately. It faintly reminded her of her mother.
Owlflight settled before the three cats, each important in their own rights. The young she-cat felt nervous and humbled all at once. It was an honor to be in the presence of such important cats. Onestar dipped his head at her, and she puffed her chest out in pride. She'd finally earned the respect of her leader, who had often chastised her when she was apprenticed. She was pulled from her thoughts as Onestar beckoned her forward.
"Onestar," she greet with a respectful dip of her head, "Why have you called me here? Is there a threat to the Clan?" Owlflight couldn't help but look at the ThunderClan medicine cat as she said this. Leafpool snorted.
"No ThunderClan cat threatens WindClan, if that's what you're getting at. There is peace among the Clans for now. I am here to visit you, Owlflight." Owlflight felt her eyes widen. What does the medicine cat of ThunderClan want with me? Leafpool turned to Onestar. "May I?" Onestar dipped his head in consent, and Leafpool continued talking.
"Some seasons ago, I gave birth to a litter of three kits. However, this was against medicine cat code, so I asked my sister to raise my kits, and she agreed. The kits were very special, chosen by StarClan to play a special part in saving the Clans from Tigerstar's continuous treachery." The she-cat paused, looking at Owlflight. "Tell me, Owlflight, what do you know of your kin?" Owlflight tensed. This cat knew. Panicked, she glanced at Onestar. He nodded, assuring her that all was fine. She could trust Leafpool. Owlflight nodded at her leader before turning to Leafpool.
"My mother was a rogue when I was born, but she often told me and my littermates of her kithood, and of her kin in ThunderClan. Her name was Hollyleaf." The tabby's eyes widened, round with shock and awe.
"So it is true, you are Hollyleaf's daughter," Leafpool looked shaken, and an understanding lit in the depths of her amber eyes. Owlflight inched closed to her.
"Did you know my mother?" Leafpool gazed at her for a long time before dipping her head into a small nod.
"Yes, I knew your mother. She was very dear to me, Owlflight. Hollyleaf was my daughter."
