Icepool, for such a stout and sturdy cat, moved faster than Owlflight thought she would; and what was worst? The infernal she cat would not slow down! Owlflight tried to keep up, as did the others, but despite being part WindClan, they found themselves running slower after moons of hunting easy prey. They were nearly as slow as ThunderClan cats!

A pang of homesickness struck Owlflight. They'd never be this slow in WindClan... She shook out her pelt as Icepool pulled ahead once more, irritation making her whiskers quiver.

"Would you slow down?" She snapped, glaring at the stout form of the medicine cat. Icepool skidded to a halt, causing the cats to nearly collide into her. She spun around with blazing blue eyes.

"Would you keep up?" She retorted with an angry snort, "Besides, we can walk now. I just wanted out of that stuffy forest." She sniffed disdainfully before leading them forward. Owlflight caught her breath, taking in her surroundings as she did. The trees were sparse here, giving out from the normal oaks and aspens she'd grown accustomed to the last few moons.

The land here was a dry kind of soil, more of a sandy grit than the soft forest mulch. The sparse pines and buckhorns offered little shade or shelter. And the dry-looking plain gave into a sandy ridge that led into a deep gorge, where it seemed a river used to run. Plants now grew in the sparse area, and rocks scattered the surrounding area. A large rocky overhang served as an entrance to the gorge, and Owlflight looked up in awe as the large party passed under, following a muttering Icepool.

"This territory is wonderful," Ravenleaf said in admiration. Icepool snorted.

"Yes, it is. It's also very well guarded, so you better remember that if you think about crossing into it without an escort." She snapped. Owlflight's sister glared.

"One would think you were a warrior instead of a medicine cat," Ravenleaf said tersely. Icepool let out a hearty laugh.

"Oh, I was, a long time ago, or at least I was training to be. But then I.. well, I decided I'd serve better as a medicine cat. Now hush, we are approaching camp." The white cat pulled ahead, leading them to what seemed like a solid wall of sediments. Owlflight looked closer and saw that the ground dipped into a wide gap that probably once served as the lowest point of the long dried river.

The camp sheltered in the wide rut, nestled between safe walls of gorse, buckthorn and stone. As Icepool led them through the gorse tunnel, several eyes peered up at them, the most startling was a pair of purple orbs belonging to a stocky black tabby tom, who's large form seemed to fill the space between the Clan, and the visiting cats.

"Duskstar," Icepool greeted the black tom, and Owlflight blinked, "I have brought cats from a rival clan near our old home." Icepool turned back to the four cats, "WindClan cats, meet my leader. This is Duskstar, leader of EchoClan and former outcast of ShadowClan." Owlflight widened her eyes. Duskstar...

'Dear StarClan! This cat murdered his sister!'

Short chapter, but necessary for the cliffhanger! This was a filler more than anything!!
