Owlflight felt her tail curl in irritation as Goose and Captain stopped the group once more to argue about which way to go, or rather, which way was fastest. It had been two days since the group had left the Twolegplace, and they still followed the elder cats lead at the persistence of Goose, who was determined to get them to the Clan in one piece. If Owlflight was honest, she was certain that the elder she cat's stubbornness stemmed from her wanting to join a Clan. After all, the cats were old and they'd likely want to rest rather than even consider working to survive. Owlflight didn't blame them— she firmly believed elders deserved to rest after seasons of service.

Currently, however, Owlflight was not amused. Goose and Captain had stopped the group many times the last two days, and it was getting to be tiresome.

"No, Cappy," Goose said loudly, "I'm certain that the river path is fastest," she pointed eastward, where the faint babble of a river sounded. Captain frowned, his sightless eyes flashing.

"I think not, dearie! Following t'e creek to t'e cross will be t'e best," he sniffed indignantly. "It'll take us right to t'e crossin', Goosey." The elder she cat snorted.

"No, no! The pat—"

"Enough!" Owlflight snapped in exasperation, "You said the trip would take a day, and we've been walking through this forest for two!" She huffed. Bloompaw folded her ears back in surprise and Oakcharge laid his tail on his sister's back, reminding her to stay calm. Goose and Captain looked equal parts ashamed and Goose sighed.

"You're right, sweets," the silver-gray she cat sighed, "If I'm being honest... I somewhat delayed the journey. I just enjoyed your company and it's rare to find you g cats willing to travel with us. I'm so sorry." Owlflight blinked at her, and let the tension leave her body in a small sigh.

"I'd guessed as much," she smiled a small smile at the elder, "But we must find this Clan, it's part of my prophecy from my ancestors. I can feel it in my paws..." Goose met Owlflight's gaze and nodded.

"The territory is just beyond the river, a wide and open marsh not far from here at all.. we will wait here in this glade," Goose said humbly, and Owlflight was about to protest when Oakcharge stopped her.

"It's fine, Owlflight. You can go ahead with Buzzardwing and Ravenleaf. I'll wait her with Bear, Ginger and Bloompaw," her brother said, "This is a nice and sheltered glade and we can manage for however long it takes you to meet this Clan." He held her gaze solemnly, and Owlflight blinked gratefully at aher brother.

"Thank you, Oakcharge," she meowed gratefully, and took a few steps forward, flanked by Ravenleaf and Buzzardwing. Owlflight turned back. "We will try to be back in no less than two sunrises. If we're not, send a cat or two after us, please?" Oakcharge snorted.

"Of course," her brother replied dryly, "I would've done that anyway." Owlflight nodded and flicked her tail, signaling her patrol to follow her out of the small glade, and smiled when she heard Bloompaw complaining behind her in good apprentice fashion.

"But why can't we go," she asked plaintively, "It seems like such fun!" Owlflight didn't hear her brother's response, however, because she was already out.

The forest they were in was beautiful. Light flickered through the various trees and prey was teetering and twittering just out of sight. Buzzardwing licked her lips.

"I can smell vole," the white she cat purred, "Can we stop to hunt, Owlflight?" Owlflight was met by blue and green gazes, as Ravenleaf seemed to be wondering as well. Owlflight really wanted to continue, she could feel how close they were, but her stomach had other plans.
