I walk through the full halls of our horrid school with Michael. I can see him looking at me oddly from the corner of my eye. It looks like he’s trying to decide whether or not he’s going to say something, finally he decides that he does. “Is that Ashton’s shirt?”

I look down at my shirt, a little panicked. I was still wearing the outfit I came home in last night. Ashton had stayed the night, and he kept me in bed till the very last minute, not allowing anytime to get ready. I had fallen asleep in his clothes so at least I didn’t have to change. I subconsciously place my hand over his beanie that I hastily placed on my head before running out my house this morning and mutter “No…”

Michael just laughs to himself though, “Yes it definitely is, I was with him when he bought it last week. Now that I think about it, you were wearing his shirts all week. Why?”

I sigh, I knew the truth was going to come out eventually, “I got in a fight with Sarah and I stayed with him for the past week okay? Is that better?”

His face drops, surprised that I had stayed with Ashton for the entire week. He pushes me into a janitors closet and lowers his voice, just in case someone is listening. “Holy shit, you stayed with him the entire week? So that means you know about Luke?”

“To be honest, I never actually saw Luke’s parents, Ashton hid me in his room the entire time. And you mean how he lives with him because his parents left him?”

“Wow, he doesn’t normally tell anyone about his parents- Wait, left him?”

“That’s what he told me.”

“Shit, Ashton… You little…” He opens the janitor’s door and sprints down the hallway towards the foyer.

I yell out after him, “Mikey where are you going?!”

He doesn’t turn around though, he just waves behind him and shouts loudly, “I’ll call you later!”

What the hell was he planning?

*Ashton’s POV*

I sit silently at an unoccupied table in one of my hideouts: the towns pizza place. Almost no one ever came in here, because no one ever went to sit down for pizza, it was all take out. Only a few people knew I liked to come here, one of them being Michael.

He came sprinting through the door and sat opposite me. He was panting, completely out of breath and a little too sweaty for my liking.

I laugh at him, “What, did you run all the way from school?”

“Yes in fact, I did.” He replies with annoyed voice.

I was joking, I can’t believe he actually came all the way from school. “Could I ask why?”

“You didn’t tell Zoe.” He says angrily.

“Oh that.” I drop my head, rubbing my neck.

“Yeah, you promised you’d tell her the truth.”

“Well, I’m not particularly ready for that.” I groan.

“Listen to me, that girl is falling head over heels for you. At this point I think she’d do anything for you. She talks non-stop about you, and you are the exact same. Why are you lying to her?” He says impatiently.

“I’m not exactly lying… I’m just not telling her all the details.”
“That’s called lying Ash.”

“She didn’t tell me about her scars. It’s the same thing. There’s both death and destructions in both of us. I’ll tell her when she tells me.”
