I am not saying do not buy a pet. I think it's a great thing to bring an animal home and care for it. What I'm saying is if you are looking into getting a pet, check the shelters first. Unfortunately, not all shelters care properly for the animals they have and they can be adopted in tough situations.Last month, my friend and I were out shopping and went into the petsmart. Their kittens that they had there were from the humane society. Me being me, I went to pet them. There was this group of black kittens that I fell completely in love with but unfortunately, wasn't able to adopt one.
Then, a couple weeks later, I was on the humane society site and happened to find the cutest kitten. She was four months and was the only one out of her siblings that hadn't been adopted yet. She was also one of the kittens from the litter that I had fallen in love with.
Me being me, I printed off adoption forms and filled them out. The next day, my dad took me out to the same petsmart. The kitten I was looking at was in a cage with newer kittens, cuddling them. I got to hold her and I was so in love, I couldn't let her spend another night in that cage. Every single cat that had been there the weeks before had been adopted, except for her.
I adopted her.
After a day of trying to find names, I finally decided on the name Parker because she flies like Spider-Man. I still can't believe no one adopted her because she is the sweetest. She's cuddly, energetic and just so damn cute.
When I adopted her, she was very skinny. Thankfully, she's gotten bigger and has a lot more energy. The vet didn't even believe that she's four months because she is so small- even after getting bigger. The issue with these stores keeping animals is that not all of them take care of the animals properly or feed them enough. They feed them donated food so their diet is changing all the time. Please consider adopting a shelter animal and giving them another chance.
