I'd managed to escape for a moment to grab Akela and take her across the river. Luckily, I hit Alpha in the side and kicked the other wolves away from me, giving me just enough time to grab her.

She looked like she was in a huge amount of pain, especially since Alpha bit into her wounded leg.

I started swimming towards the middle of the river, with Akela on my back. I could feel the rushing currents against my body.

The currents would push me down the river, not across the river. I felt pain hitting me all around, but I ignored it.

It was really difficult for me to fight against the current. Apart of me started regretting choosing the river in the first place, but what else was I going to do? Let the pack kill Akela and me?

I heard Akela whimper as she held onto my back. She sounded scarred and in pain. I have to hurry! I kept yelling at myself.

I kept my pace, swimming as fast as I could and with smoothness, so that Akela wouldn't fall off my back.

I heard growling behind us and angered barks. I didn't hear the pack follow us in the river, they must've not gone after us.

I scanned ways for us to get out quickly, but there were no good ways to get out. My legs started to grow tired and weak.

I have to keep moving! If I stopped moving, the current would take us down the river easily. I kept swimming, not daring to stop.

After awhile of swimming in the tough current, I noticed I was getting close to the middle of the river, I could tell. But, I also noticed the rapids were growing as I swam with Akela on my back towards the middle of the river.

I kept swimming, and finally reached the middle of the river with Akela still on my back. But that didn't mean we made it all the way. I still had to swim another half of a river.

In the middle of the river, the waves grew bigger and stronger.

Waves of water would crash over me and Akela, but I resisted to let go of Akela and get pulled underwater. I would have to pause for some air and let Akela get a better grip on me.

A sudden huge wave threw itself over us, making Akela let go of me and pulling me underwater. It shoved me underwater and I quickly pulled myself back up.

I gasped for some air and scanned the water to find where Akela was. I didn't see her. I looked all around me, but she wasn't there.

I started to panic. What if she drowned? Or got pulled down the river?

"Akela?" I shouted as loud as I could. No response. I started searching the river, swimming all around me, hoping I'd find her.

Another wave hit me and threw me underwater again. I had to find Akela and quick. I swam back up and gulped in some air.

I kept searching for Akela. I started getting pulled down the river, the current dragging me with it. No! I need to find Akela!

I searched until I saw a rock and a figure struggling. Akela! She was alive, but wouldn't live if I didn't hurry and help her out. I noticed she was stuck.

Her paw was stuck in between two big rocks.

I dove into the water and started to help get Akela's paw unstuck. If I didn't get Akela unstuck in time, she would drown.
