The sun slowly arose. I could feel the warmth of the sun grow, the warmth of it felt good. I laid on the lush hill next to a tall tree. The sun started to glisten all around me.

I wanted to lay here all day, with the comforting sun light on my pelt, but I knew I had other things to do.

After awhile of laying in the sunlight, I decided to get up. I got on my four legs and let out a yawn.

My ears perked up to the sound of something grumbling, then I realized it was my stomach. Maybe I should go and hunt, I thought to myself. However, I decided not to for I wasn't in the mood for a hunt.

I started to trot, sniffing the breezy air, hoping I'd smell some carcass somewhere close. I sniffed around the place, sniffing from north, to east, to south, and then finally to west. I whiffed in one last sniff, and caught on to the mouth-watering smell.

I knew I had to be careful when I would attempt to eat the elk carcass, for I didn't know for sure if it was an abandoned kill or not.

I grew eager as I followed the growing smell. My hunger was craving food. To dig into a elk carcass meal would be astonishing.

I finally stopped when I got a few feet away from the meal I was longing to jump into. I knew that I had to be careful; I didn't know whose kill it was and of it was abandoned or not. I then decided to wait a few moments before entering the meal.

A few moments passed. Not a single predator came near the kill. I assumed that the kill had been abandoned, from what I could tell.

When the right the came, I moved I'm towards the meal, licking my chops, ready to eat.

Right then, I started to sink my teeth into the elk carcass. I could taste the delicious flesh in my mouth. Soon after digging my fangs into the flesh, I ripped off a piece of elk carcass and started chewing on it. My hunger was pleased with the flesh. I couldn't bare to resist more of the meal. I continued to rip and chew on more pieces of the elk carcass. The delightfulness of the meal only caused me to want more.

As I continued to devour the meal, I noticed something suspicious. It was an unusual sound.

I looked towards where the mysterious sound was coming from, but I couldn't figure out where or what the sound was coming from.

Instead of looking into where and what the sound was coming from, I decided to continue with my meal. I didn't think that the sound was a threat, until I kept heard a low growl through the breeze. Whatever was growling wasn't that far away from me. I questioned myself, I've heard this growl before, but what is it? I thought of multiple predators that could be who was growling, yet I wasn't exactly sure.

I didn't move as the sound crept towards me. I froze and stood frozen. That was until my curiousity got the best of me. I slowly turned around only to find a predator that looked as if it were ready to attack me.

It was then when I realized that the elk carcass that I was eating moments ago was its kill.

The predator was a tawny colored cat. Not only was it a big cat, but in realization, it was a cougar.

It slowly crept towards me, keeping its stance steady. My teeth started to bare as the cougar's teeth were already bared at me. I backed up slowly, and got in a defensive position.

It started circling me, and hissing at me with disgust.

I didn't like to fight, yet what choice did I have? If I ran, it would attack and kill me. If I fought against it,I could possibly could survive against it.

My lips stayed curled into a snarl. I started to circle it, as it continued to circle me. We started into each other's eyes, not one of us willing to back down.

After moments of staring towards each other, It pounced onto me and shoved its fangs into my shoulder.

I let out a yelp and kicked into its stomach, knocking it off of me. It hissed again and ran back at me, but this time, I was prepared for its attack.

I suddenly scratched a sharp claw deeply into its face, leaving a deep bloody scar on its face. It looked down toward the ground with a groan, then it looked back towards me. I knew it was furious at me, as I could tell.

I snarled at it with a threat, hoping that it will make the cougar back down, yet it still never did. With pain attacking my shoulder, I charged at it, and bit onto its tail, making it yowl loudly.

It suddenly latched onto one of my front legs, diving its fangs deep into my leg. I shrieked and tried biting onto its leg with all my might to make it let go, but even as I bit down into its leg, it wouldn't let go.

The pain in my leg was sharpening. I cried out in pain while biting harder into its leg. I could tell it was wincing as it dug its fangs into my leg, for my fangs we're painful too.

I kicked it in the jaw with one of my back legs, striking it hard enough in its jaw to make it leg go of my leg. My breath loosened up when the cougar let go and I felt a little relieved. I tensed back up again when the cougar let out a loud, obnoxious scream.

I could tell it was in a lot of pain, wincing as It backed up with its teeth bared.

I backed up too, letting out a slight snarl through my teeth. I was ready for another attack, but it wasn't ready too fight back. It looked as if it was in too much pain to keep fighting.

It turned away from me with one last hiss and ran off, grabbing a piece of the elk carcass I'd been eating not to long ago before it left. It made its point.

There was so much pain all around me, yet it was mainly in my shoulder and leg.

When the pain lessened, I went back to my place where I stayed the night before, leaving a long, bloody trail behind me.

I winced as I limped back. The pain wasn't extremely terrible in the moment, yet that didn't mean it wouldn't come back.

I laid down slowly, wincing as I pulled myself down to the ground with effort.

It wasn't long before the pain returned. My wounds hurt terribly, bleeding rapidly. I began licking the bloody wounds, mainly my leg wound, which was the bloodiest wound of them all.
