I didn't want to leave her, but I didn't have a choice.
It was for her safety. To protect her, for the good, I kept reminding myself.
But, even reminding myself didn't make me feel any happier.
I kept my pace, sprinting quickly back to my pack.
I hope I didn't stay away to long.
I started to worry that I was gone too long, so I ran faster.
Across the dirt ground, my paws flew in the air and raced towards the pack den.
I finally slowed down when I got to the pack den.
I really hope I wasn't late.
I tried sneaking in, hoping that Alpha didn't catch me coming in.
I stayed low to the ground and walked slowly until-
"Omega."
I froze and quickly turned to face Alpha. He looked furious and upset with me.
Oh no.
Was I late?
"Yes, sir?" I asked with a gulp.
"You're in deep trouble," he let out a low growl.
I was gone too long. That's probably why I was in trouble.
I should've been faster. I scowled at myself for being too slow.
"I noticed you were gone too long and after awhile of waiting for you, I sent Ascena to go find you," his fangs started to show, "And you know what she told me?"
"W-what?" I asked with a shaky voice.
I was worried that he found out about where I was at and what I was doing.
Please no...
"Ascena told me that she looked in the hunting fields for you and couldn't find you. So, she began to follow your scent and found you in the woods with a stranger!"
His voice lowered with upset, "You lied to me."
My head sank towards the ground at his words.
He found out.
Now he knows...
"And, you know what's worse? You betrayed your pack by hanging out with a stranger wolf!" his voice rose again.
"They needed my help. They were inquired and needed someone to help-"
"This pack doesn't help strangers!" he shouted at me, "I don't help strangers! I hate strangers and I've told you that this pack doesn't help stranger wolves!"
He let a snarl out under his breath and shook his head in disappointment.
"How many more times will you disappoint me?"
I didn't respond. I only kept my head lowered with a whimper.
He snarled at me with disgust, ashamed that I was even his son.
He then barked for Beta and told him something that didn't sound good...
Beta nodded and went up to me.
"Stay here with Beta," Alpha muttered under his breath to me.
Where was he going? Away from me or to... I paused. Akela. I was guessing, but it seemed like the truth.
"Where are you going?" I asked, nervously.
"To end your little friend's life. They don't deserve to live, especially not after entering my territory," he said it firmly.
End Akela's life?
No, please no.
"Wait! Please don't.."
He suddenly threw me against the ground and snarled.
"I choose what happens! I don't care what you think, so you might as well shut up! "
He growled at me and soon howled for the pack to follow him.
At that moment, I saw Zach. He looked at me like he wanted to help me, but couldn't.
He turned away from me.
"Zach, please help me..."
He started to walk away from me and to Alpha.
"Zach, please help!" I begged again with a whimper.
He stopped walking for a moment, but started walking away from me again.
He didn't turn back around.
Why would he follow Alpha and not help me? I shook my head feeling betrayed by him.
Frustrated and upset with him.
I tried running at Alpha to stop him, but Beta forced me back on the ground and held me there, not letting me go.
He snarled at me.
"Stop!" I tried barking to Alpha, but he ignored me and started leading the pack.
I watched them until they disappeared into the woods.
I needed to go help Akela, but I couldn't because Beta wouldn't let me go.
"Please, let me go!" I begged.
"No!" Beta snapped, "Alpha ordered to keep you here!"
I knew he wasn't going to listen to me, he was too stubborn.
What should I do now?
It won't be long before Alpha and the others find Akela.
I have to think of something fast.
Think! Think! I kept telling myself.
Finally, I thought of only one thing I could do, that I had to do. I didn't want to do this, but I was out of options.
I had to fight Beta.
