The waves thrashed at me and the current started dragging me down with it. I struggled to keep my head above the water, and not let myself get thrown under the water.

It was hard for me to swim, especially since my legs were tired and my ankle that got cut by the sharp rock under water earlier was in a lot pain.

There would be no way for me to escape this river.

I noticed Akela was running along the edge of the muddy land and following me down the river. I forced myself to keep swimming as hard as I could towards the land.

No matter how hard I swam to the land, the current wouldn't let me towards it. I was starting to feel hopeless.

My legs wouldn't last much longer swimming and I wouldn't last much longer alive.

A strong wave hit me, and then another. It flipped me around and drove me underwater.

I quickly stumbled back above the water. I gasped for air and winced as a wave of pain hit my ankle again.

When I looked ahead, I noticed the water was falling downwards a little. I realized it was a small waterfall up ahead.

I needed to get out quickly. I didn't want to go down that small waterfall, all I wanted was to be out of the river.

I frantically looked around for a way to get out of the river. I found nothing. I was hopeless.

I suddenly heard a yell, "Swim to the tree branch!"

I looked towards where the yell came from. I saw Akela and a broken tree branch that fell into the river.

I nodded and started making my way over to the tree branch. The current kept pushing me away from the tree branch.

I swam harder and faster. I saw the tree branch coming up. If I didn't make it in time, I would go down the small waterfall.

Hurry! I swam a little faster and then suddenly I broke free from the worst of the current.

It was easier to swim over to the tree branch without the strongest part of the current there. The weaker current drifted me to the broken tree branch.

I put my legs over and tensed up in pain as I pulled myself on top of the branch. The branch was a little wobbly and unstable.

I moved as smoothly as I could over to Akela, hoping I wouldn't break the tree branch.

I must've put a little to much weight on one part of the branch. The branch suddenly snapped and I immediately flew myself onto the land.

I didn't feel any pain hit me when I hit the land. It happened so quick.

Akela limped towards me and helped me up. My bleeding ankle started to throb again and I started to pant.

I was exhausted and tired from all the swimming.

I heard angry howls and barks across the river. It was the pack I betrayed, I could tell.

But then when I looked across the river, I  saw Zach. He didn't howl or bark, all he did was frown. I didn't want to leave him, but I had to.

I then squinted my eyes to see Alpha fiercely growling, with the pack behind him.

"You'll regret you ever left this pack!" Alpha howled violently to me.

That made me feel some guilt and sadness. I left everything I've ever known behind. My pack.

I've betrayed them. The ones who raised me. But then a different thought hit me. They were the ones who called me an Omega. The ones that made fun of me.
